Abstract: The electronic payment acceptance devices provide a security-status-indicating GUI via a display window resident therein. The security-status-indicating GUI includes a security message element that provides an indication of whether the electronic payment acceptance device is operating in a secure or an unsecure mode. The security-status-indicating GUI may also include a security message element that may be displayed at random locations on the display window. The modified GUI may be modified from a first size provided by a software application running on electronic payment acceptance device the to a second size. The second size may allow for concurrent display of the security message element and the modified GUI on the security-status-indicating GUI.

Abstract: A transactor for use in connection with transactions involving secure and non-secure information is configured to present notices on user interface screens associated with a non-secure operating mode so as to caution users not to enter secure information. When the transactor operates in a secure mode, no such notices are presented. In addition, when in the secure mode, the transactor may be configured to accept data inputs only from designated areas of a user interface, such as a touch screen.

Abstract: Secure management of electronic transactions is provided by a system server that is communicatively coupled to terminals configured as thin client devices (TCD) and to one or more application servers. A TCD completes a secure communications link with the system server, and transfers information concerning the identity of a user and account information from a secure transaction card (STC). Upon authentication, the system server drives the display of available applications at the TCD, allowing the user to select and engage in a desired transaction with the application server hosting the selected application. During the transaction, the system server brokers communications according to the different security schemes used by the TCD and the application server and, ultimately, stores a transaction ticket that memorializes the transaction. The transaction ticket can later be retrieved by presenting appropriate authentication information.

Abstract: An ergonomic housing for a micro computer which has an upper surface for positioning interface components thereon and a lower surface having a front portion and a rear portion. A finger saddle is defined between the front portion and the rear portion for receiving an operator's finger therein and enabling the micro computer housing to be comfortably held in an operator's hand when the operator's hand is in its naturally relaxed position.
