  • Patent number: 6923164
Abstract: A fuel supply apparatus capable of following the positional variations of the bottom side of a fuel tank through a simple construction and improved in terms of ease of assembly in the fuel tank. The apparatus includes a fuel pump body in which a filter-integrated pump in which a fuel pump and a fuel filter are integrally formed is integrally accommodated in a fuel reservoir having a bottom capable of coming into abutment with a bottom side of the fuel tank, and causes the fuel pump body to travel to follow the variations of the bottom side of the fuel tank so as to be placed in abutment with the bottom side of the fuel tank, by means of an urging force generated on the basis of the pressure of the fuel inside the fuel pump body.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 15, 2004
Date of Patent: August 2, 2005
    Assignee: Mitsubishi Denki Kabushiki Kaisha
Inventors: Hideo Mitsudou, Masaru Hiraiwa, Michihiro Hayashi, Seizo Inoue

  • Patent number: 6843116
Abstract: A fuel pump module is liquid-tightly mounted in an opening of a vehicle fuel tank. The fuel pump module includes a residual fuel detector provided near the fuel tank. The residual fuel detector includes a diaphragm having a first diaphragm for receiving fuel pressure Pg by a head and atmospheric pressure Po, and a diaphragm portion for receiving atmospheric pressure Po and internal pressure Pi. The residual fuel detector detects the amount of fuel remaining in the fuel tank on the basis of these kinds of pressure Po, Pg and Pi. At the same time, the residual fuel detector detects the in-tank pressure Pt of the fuel tank on the basis of Po and Pi.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 26, 2003
Date of Patent: January 18, 2005

  • Patent number: 6715471
Abstract: An electric fuel pump comprising a pump casing assembly having a fuel inlet port and an outlet port and a rotary member driven by an electric motor disposed within the pump casing assembly for pumping fuel from the outlet port. A fuel discharge port supplies the fuel from the outlet port to an engine, and a pressure regulator is disposed for regulating the pressure of the fuel to be discharged from the fuel discharge port. The pressure regulator regulates the pressure of the fuel from the outlet port by returning the fuel to the vicinity of the inlet port when the pressure of the fuel from the outlet port is equal to or higher than a predetermined pressure.
