  • Patent number: 6112390
Abstract: A workpiece which is made by integrally combining an outer member and an inner member through hemming is manufactured efficiently in a common apparatus. An outer member and an inner member are combined to alternately subassemble two kinds of workpieces at a common subassembly station. A hemming station is disposed on a downstream side of the subassembly station in a manufacturing line. In this hemming station, a first hemming apparatus for the first kind of workpiece and a second hemming apparatus for the second kind of workpiece are disposed in a side by side relationship with each other. The first kind of workpiece subassembled in the subassembly station and the second kind of workpiece are alternately fed to the first hemming apparatus and the second hemming apparatus by a workpiece feeding robot.

  • Patent number: 5203073
Abstract: A method and apparatus for assembling exterior parts of a motorcar wherein assembling accuracy errors of a motor car body are determined by measuring positions of a plurality of reference points of said motorcar body. Correction data is calculated relating to respective assembling positions of plural kinds of the exterior parts which form an external shape of the motorcar, the calculation being performed on the basis of measured data obtained in the previous step, while maintaining a correlative relationship among said parts, to eliminate correlative misalignment among said parts due to the assembling accuracy errors of said motorcar body. Each of said parts is then assembled by respective assembling robots to respective assembling position which has been corrected in accordance with the calculated correction data.

  • Patent number: 5181307
Abstract: A hinge bracket is fastened to a motorcar body while the looseness or play at a hinge portion of the hinge bracket is removed, the looseness being in a direction in which a door load is applied. The apparatus for doing so includes a setting device for setting the door by moving a jig which holds the door, a fastening device for fastening a hinge bracket which is hingedly provided on the door to a motorcar body, and a play or looseness removing device for removing looseness at a hinge portion of a hinge bracket, the looseness being in a direction in which a door load is applied. The play or looseness is removed by lifting the hinge bracket at an end on the side of the hinge portion and/or by lowering the hinge bracket at an end opposite to the hinge portion.
