  • Patent number: 6928307
Abstract: A cellular phone includes (a) at least two annunciators each of which informs a user of at least one of receipt of an e-mail and content of a received e-mail, (b) an e-mail analyzer which detects an address of a transmitter of the received e-mail and characteristics of the received e-mail, and transmits a first detection signal in accordance with the detection, (c) a first detector which detects whether the cellular phone is folded, and transmits a second detection signal in accordance with the detection, (d) a second detector which detects whether the cellular phone is connected to an adapter in a vehicle, and transmits a third detection signal in accordance with the detection, and (e) a controller which selects one of the two annunciators in accordance with the first to third detection signals, and operates the thus selected annunciator.

  • Patent number: 6198934
Abstract: There is provided a method of judging whether a radio receiver is in a first area or a second area, the radio receiver dealing with a plurality of frequency channels, the method including the steps, in sequence, of receiving radio signals, detecting a synchronization signal out of the received radio signals, and transmitting a first signal, judging whether the radio receiver transfers outside a range where transmitted radio signals can be received, based on the first signal, detecting an intensity of electro-magnetic wave for each of the frequency channels, when the radio receiver is judged to transfer outside the range, and judging that the radio receiver is situated in the first area, when all of intensities of electro-magnetic waves are smaller than a threshold value, and judging that the radio receiver is situated in the second area, when at least one of intensities of electro-magnetic waves is greater than the threshold value.

  • Patent number: 6078267
Abstract: In order to estimate the number of message transmissions dispatched to a radio pager wherein messages transmitted are sequentially numbered, a transmitted signal is acquired which has been found to be directed to the pager. Thereafter, a check is made to determine if a message number included in the transmitted signal is detected. If the message number is detected, the message number detected is stored in a memory. The number of acquired transmitted signals is incremented except where the message number detected is discontinuous with a previous message number which was detected immediately before the detection of the instant message. Then the number of message transmissions is estimated or determined using the number of acquired transmitted signals, the message number detected stored in the above, and the above mentioned previous message number.

  • Patent number: 6016106
Abstract: A paging system having a selective calling receiver which receives a selective call signal transmitted from a base station. The selective call signal including message information. The paging system including: a display for obtaining a corresponding regular message from the message information and displaying the regular message; a divider for dividing the received message information into predetermined set units; a memory for storing predetermined message information and the message information divided into the set units; and a counter for incrementing the frequency of the set unit message information to be stored in the memory if the message information is the same as set unit message information which has been stored previously.

  • Patent number: 5861818
Abstract: A radio paging selective receiver determines that a received message is unread based on the time difference between the message reception time and the current time being larger that some predetermined value of time, and the paging selective receiver provides an indication of the unread message by displaying the reception time of the unread message in a second fashion which is visibly different from a first fashion normally used to display the current time.

  • Patent number: 5831547
Abstract: A wireless card, in response to a synchronization signal received from a gate machine, transmits a user information to the gate machine. The gate machine examines whether the wireless card is available using the user information. Necessary information obtained based on the user information is retained in the wireless card when it passes through the gate. A user can be informed of the necessary information at any desired time after passing through the gate. The necessary information is generated in the wireless card and/or in the gate machine. The necessary information obtained in the gate machine is transmitted from the gate machine to the wireless card.
