  • Patent number: 6885626
Abstract: An information recording/reproducing apparatus which allows freer utilization of data compressed under different data compression schemes. When data recorded on a magneto-optical disc of an MD under the ATRAC compression scheme is converted into that of the ATRAC3 compression scheme and re-recorded on the magneto-optical disc, selector switches are changed over in a predetermined combination. The data recorded under the ATRAC compression scheme is read and demodulated by a signal processing unit. The demodulation data is decoded into linear PCM data by a data expansion decoder. The linear PCM data is converted into data of the ATRAC3 compression scheme by a data compression encoder. The resultant is modulated by the signal processing unit and re-recorded on the magneto-optical disc. Here, the track numbers of the data originally recorded under the ATRAC compression scheme are kept unchanged, and associated with the data which is converted and recorded under the ATRAC3 compression scheme.

  • Publication number: 20020181338
Abstract: An information recording/reproducing apparatus is provided with an editing function which allows a reproduction order of information recorded in an information recording/reproducing medium to be changed in a more convenient fashion or arranged. When a user selects music information recorded in the information recording/reproducing medium during the reproduction by operating an operating unit, data of track number indicating a place where the reproduced information is recorded is stored in a storing unit. When the selection of information is completed by the user, the data of track number stored in the storing unit 20 is changed in turn of a predetermined track number, and also an updated data assigned a group file is generated. The updated data is recorded in a predetermined area of the information recording/reproducing medium as a management data showing the reproduction order.

  • Patent number: 5432698
Abstract: Apparatus provides an interface between a computer, various data sources such as patient monitors and a printer via the parallel printer port of a computer for use in a data management system for anesthesia. Substantially any computer may be utilized by use of the parallel printer port to provide fast and efficient inputting of data to the computer, communication with monitors and other data sources and to enable the use of the printer via the parallel printer port. The patient's vital signs and data from other data sources is supplied to the computer via the status lines of the parallel printer port while the data lines are utilized to control a processor in the apparatus with the printer disabled by reason of the absence of a strobe pulse. The apparatus includes signal processing circuitry which multiplexes a number of analog data signals and converts them to digital signals for storage and transmission to the computer upon request.

  • Patent number: 4605859
Abstract: This invention describes apparatus for and a method of measuring radiation field strength which uses a pulse enabled detector (e.g. G-M tube) and is based on the equation R=K/t, where R is the radiation field strength, t is the time till first strike, and K is a proportionality constant for the given apparatus. The G-M detector is enabled by pulsing the bias voltage across the detector up into its active region and then measuring the elapsed time interval to the incident of first strike. Since the reciprocal of this time is proportional to the radiation field strength, all information necessary to determine the field strength has been obtained. A constant wait time is employed after each strike to assure that the G-M tube full recovery time has expired, and the G-M tube is then enabled and the process repeated. Because of the random nature of radiation phenomena the confidence level that any given measurement is an accurate representation of the true average field strength is low.

  • Patent number: 4288945
Abstract: A rest apparatus for supporting a cylindrical portion of a workpiece to be machined. A pilot shaft is supported at the opposite ends thereof by a support head and provided with a piston portion to form a hydraulic cylinder with a cylinder bore of a rest housing so as to move the rest housing toward and away from the workpiece. The axis of the pilot shaft passes through or slightly above the axis of the workpiece. Rotation of the rest housing about the pilot shaft is prevented. A pair of rest shafts are slidably but nonrotatably received in the rest housing for horizontally and vertically supporting the workpiece by a pair of rest shoes. Feed apparatus is operatively connected to the pair of rest shafts to feed the pair of rest shoes toward the center of the workpiece.

  • Patent number: 4160438
Abstract: A profile dressing apparatus for a grinding wheel wherein a dressing tool is moved, in radial and axial directions of the wheel, together with a non-extensible stylus tracing a full form template so as to form a cylindrical face and rounded corners on the wheel. First and second extensible styluses are provided for selective contact with first and second assistant templates when the non-extensible stylus ascends rounded corners formed on the full form template. The assistant templates respectively present outwardly downward gentle slopes from the rounded corners of the full form template, so that the non-extensible stylus can easily ascend each of the rounded corners.
