  • Patent number: 6669903
Abstract: Sterilization or bacteriostasis is carried out using cellulose acetate. The cellulose acetate exhibits an excellent antibacterial property with respect to fungi such as Trichophyton, etc. and bacteria such as, for example, enteropathogenic Escherichia coli O-157 or Methicillin tolerance Staphylococcus aureus. The cellulose acetate may be mixed with resin such as, for example, polyethylene or polypropylene, and this mixture may be used to produce fibers. Then, a textile product may be manufactured using the fibers thus produced. The cellulose acetate may be dissolved in a mixed solvent of ethyl acetate, ethanol, and methyl alcohol, so that a coating material is prepared. This coating material is applied to an object to be sterilized and then is dried to form a coating film made of cellulose acetate. This coating film exhibits the antibacterial property.

  • Patent number: 5690010
Abstract: A shear die is axially divided into a pair of die portions 18,19 between which a holding cavity 22 is formed, wherein the holding cavity has a diameter that is less than that of material "a" so that when one of the die portions is forced against the other die portion under a biasing effect of a spring 25, the material will be firmly held in the die cavity ensuring that the material can be cut to a predetermined volume and present a smooth cut surface, and the cutter arbor 4 is provided with a releasing member 34 adapted to release the one die portion 19 from the effect of the spring 25 as the cutter arbor 4 is retracted to facilitate additional material being moved into the die cavity for a subsequent cutting operation.

  • Patent number: 5229193
Abstract: A silicon carbide member is manufactured by depositing a silicon carbide coating on a substrate of silicon carbide containing free silicon by chemical vapor deposition. By gradually reducing the content of free silicon of the coating such that the coating is made of silicon carbide containing free silicon at the interface with the substrate, but of silicon carbide containing no free silicon at the outer surface, the coating is firmly bonded to the substrate, undergoes little thermal stress and is resistant against cracking and separation upon thermal cycling. The member is suitable for use in the heat treatment of semiconductor elements.
