  • Patent number: 6022034
Abstract: A twist beam suspension includes a twist beam which is disposed so that the longitudinal direction thereof runs along with the transverse direction of a vehicle, and a pair of trailing arms being connected to a body of the vehicle and each of which is disposed at a respectively different longitudinal end of the twist beam and is disposed such that the longitudinal direction thereof runs along the longitudinal direction of the vehicle. The twist beam suspension further includes a restricting apparatus which restricts inward displacement of the pair of trailing arms relative to the body of the vehicle in the transverse direction of the vehicle prior to restricting outward displacement of the pair of trailing arms relative to the body of the vehicle in the transverse direction of the vehicle.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 11, 1999
Date of Patent: February 8, 2000
Assignees: Toyota Jidosha Kabushiki Kaisha, Bridgestone Corporation, Tokai Rubber Industries, Ltd.
Inventors: Toshiyasu Santo, Takeshi Noguchi, Michio Kasahara

  • Patent number: 5824755
Abstract: Fluoroelastomers having copolymerized units of vinylidene fluoride and at least one other fluorinated monomer are prepared in aqueous suspension using an initiator comprising a solution of an oil soluble peroxide in a water-soluble hydrocarbon solvent.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 21, 1997
Date of Patent: October 20, 1998

  • Patent number: 5374484
Abstract: A fluorine-containing elastomer composition consists essentially of (A) a peroxide-vulcanizable fluorine-containing elastomer containing iodine and/or bromine which becomes a vulcanizing point, (B) an organic peroxide, (C) a co-vulcanizing agent and (D) a hydrotalcite compound or a calcined product thereof. The composition of the present invention is markedly improved in permanent compression set and adhesion after vulcanization while maintaining excellent tensile characteristics, heat resistance and chemical resistance corresponding to those of conventionally known peroxide-vulcanizable fluorine-containing elastomer, and therefore is suitable for the uses such as an O-ring, a gasket and an oil seal.

  • Patent number: 4830920
Abstract: The fluorine-containing elastomer of the present invention is a novel elastomer comprising vinylidene fluoride units and, hexafluoropropylene units, optionally with tetrafluoroethylene units, and wherein the fluorine content of the elastomer is 63.5 to 71% by weight, the content of fractions having molecular weights of 50,000 or less (M.sub.5) in the elastomer is 5% by weight or less, the content of fractions having molecular weights of 1,000,000 or more (M.sub.100) in the elastomer is 10 to 35% by weight, and the limiting viscosity number (ml/g) of the elastomer is in the range of from 100 to less than 250. The fluorine-containing elaastomer of the present invention is excellent in resistance to heat and chemicals and is not only extremely excellent in compression set resistance properties and mechanical properties but also has a satisfactory workability. Further, by vulcanization of the elastomer, there can be provided excellent shaped articles such as rings, gaskets, seals, diaphragms and the like.
