  • Patent number: 4553787
Abstract: A vehicle deceleration sensing type dual braking system brake fluid pressure control valve used to maintain even braking pressure in the event of failure of one of the braking systems and which automatically sets a crossover pressure in dependence upon the load on the vehicle. Two reducing valve mechanisms are arranged coaxially within a valve body, with two plungers extending outwardly from a hollow liquid-pressure-operated piston. A spring pushes the plungers apart. Another liquid-pressure-operated piston, disposed coaxially with the two plungers, receives the outward end of one of the pistons. A chamber on the outward side of this liquid-pressure-operated piston is communicated with an inertial value used to sense the deceleration of the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 4512615
Abstract: A vehicle brake controller provided with an electronic data processor to keep uniform the relationship between the pedal effort and the effectiveness of the brake independently of the change in various driving conditions. Data processor stores an optimum relationship, processes the signals from the sensors, computes a desired deceleration and gives a control signal to the control valve so that the actual deceleration will be equal to the desired deceleration.

  • Patent number: 4492411
Abstract: A brake pressure control valve for a diagonal brake circuit having two pressure regulating valves is proposed. If one of two brake lines fails, the pressure regulating valves are adapted to be made inoperative so that the brake pressure will not be reduced. The valve head on the plunger passes through a lip seal of an elastic material.

  • Patent number: 4391350
Abstract: An easily insertable and removable brake pad abrasion detector is provided by forming a recess in the rear surface of the pad, a hole in the pad backing plate communicating with the recess, a sleeve in the hole having inwardly projecting one-way pawls and a probe having a circumferential shoulder engaged by the pawls when inserted. The small diameter part of the probe may have an elliptical cross-section so that the pawls may be disengaged by merely turning the probe.

  • Patent number: 4315119
Abstract: A tank type gas circuit breaker comprises a sealed vessel which is filled with an insulating gas, insulating support means whose one end is fixed to the sealed vessel, a bracket which is fixed to the other end of the insulating support means, a linkage which is disposed in the bracket, and at least two interrupting units which are operated for opening and closure by means of the linkage and which are connected in electrical series with each other. At least two interrupting units which effect switching operations along axes being substantially parallel are disposed on at least one end face side of the bracket in a manner to be staggered in a direction of the axes, and one of the adjacent interrupting units located on the bracket side has its stationary contact member electrically connected with a movable contact member of the other interrupting unit at all times.

  • Patent number: 4274511
Abstract: An improved arrangement for mounting a wear detector for a brake pad in a backing plate. A tubular holder has a few inwardly bent claws to hold the detector in position. A sleeve is mounted on the wear detector so as to receive the claws under a shoulder thereof. This arrangement assures accurate wear detection of the brake pad at a predetermined limit.

  • Patent number: 4245723
Abstract: A disc brake apparatus comprises a brake housing disposed to straddle over a brake disc, and a pair of suspended brake pad assemblies which are disposed in the brake housing at both sides of the brake disc. The brake pad assemblies are each formed with a pair of lateral projections each of which is slidably received in a guide groove formed in a stationary member connected to a stationary portion of a motor vehicle so that the pad assemblies may be moved toward and away from the brake disc under the guidance of the guide groove. A spring member is provided in one of the guide grooves located on the leading side of the brake apparatus as viewed in the rotating direction of the brake disc for urging resiliently the pad assemblies away from the brake disc, pressing it upwardly and toward the other groove, thereby to assure a smooth movement of the brake pad assemblies and at the same time to prevent generation of undesirable noises.

  • Patent number: 4222464
Abstract: A disc brake apparatus for a motor vehicles comprises a brake caliper having a pair of caliper arms each supporting a brake pad assembly which is disposed at each lateral side of a brake disc. One of the caliper arms contains a hydraulic piston and cylinder operable to press directly the associated brake pad assembly against one side of the brake disc and press indirectly the other brake pad assembly against the other side of the brake disc through corresponding movement of the brake caliper upon application of brake. A mounting block is formed on a stationary portion of the vehicle and has a through-hole extending substantially perpendicular to the brake disc, and a pin secured to the brake caliper extends through the through-hole. The pin serves to mount the brake apparatus to the vehicle stationary portion and to guide the movement of the brake caliper relative to the brake disc.

  • Patent number: 4162721
Abstract: The present invention relates to an improvement on a floating spot type disc brake in which the caliper slides in the disc axial direction. The brake has a U-shaped arm of the torque member that extends to the outer circumferential part of the disc from one side of the rotatable disc which is to be braked. Bush boots of an elastic material are provided between the penetrating holes provided in the disc axial direction in the U-shaped arms of the torque member which is fixed to a non-rotating part and the slide pin parts provided on the other hand in the caliper member which straddles over the outer circumference of the disc and is slidable in the disc axial direction.
