  • Patent number: 6893084
Abstract: In a glass panel arrangement for automotive sun roof systems having a weather strip frame which is disposed substantially flush with the glass panel, a support frame made of metallic material and attached to a lower surface of the glass panel along a peripheral part of the glass panel is provided with an outer extension for supporting a part of the weather strip frame extending away from the edge of the glass panel from below so as to resist the tendency for the weather strip frame to get detached from the outer periphery of the glass panel. Therefore, the weather strip frame can be made of plastic material which has a relatively low affinity with the glass panel. In particular, if the outer extension is provided with an upwardly directed flange, not only the retaining force of the outer extension is improved but also the bending rigidity of the outer extension is improved.

  • Publication number: 20050081451
Abstract: The present invention provides a panel seal structure having a seal mounted around the outer circumferential edge of a panel body, such as glass panel, covering an opening formed in a vehicle body. An upper face of the seal is set to be substantially flush with an upper face of the panel body. A lip to be contactable with an edge of the panel body is formed along the upper face of the seal, and the edge of the lip is deformed downward upon contact with the edge of the panel body. Thereby, since the edge of the lip is deformed downward, a dimensional error of the panel body is accommodated for, and the continuity between the upper face of the seal and the upper face of the panel body is enhanced.

  • Publication number: 20050073851
Abstract: A sunroof panel apparatus for a vehicle includes a pair of sheets of transparent glass, a pair of transparent interlayers, and a plurality of electro-luminescent (EL) sheets. The transparent interlayers are enclosed between the sheets of transparent glass. The EL sheets are enclosed between the transparent interlayers and each EL sheet has electrode layers with terminals. The terminals are electrically connected through a variable resister and a power supply.

  • Patent number: 6817658
Abstract: In an automotive sunroof system which comprises a fixed roof panel defining a roof opening, an inner frame defining guide rails and drain grooves, a moveable panel guided along said guide rails via sliders and a slide and tilt mechanism for effecting a slide and tilt motion of the moveable pane, a terminal member is attached to each front corner of the inner frame to serve several purposes such as a closure member for the guide rail, a stopper for the forward travel of one of the sliders, a member for retaining the fore-and-aft movement of the moveable panel, and a support for a wind deflector device.

  • Patent number: 6802560
Abstract: A sunroof apparatus with a sliding panel freely opening and closing an opening of a roof in a vehicle, a movable drain arranged below a rear end in the panel and moving forward and rearward interlocking with a forward and rearward movement of the panel, and a sunshade covering a lower side of the sliding panel and freely opening and closing. A holding means for the sunshade is constructed by forming sliding grooves in frames in both sides extending along a longitudinal direction in a side of a passenger room of the opening, forming a notch at a predetermined position of the groove L3 fitting front and rear sliders to which the sunshade is mounted, and integrally forming an engagement piece made of elastic member and fitted to the notch in the rear slider.

  • Patent number: 6626485
Abstract: In an automotive sun roof system, each of the front sliders is provided with at least three laterally extending slide shoes including a front inboard slide shoe, a rear inboard slide shoe and a front outboard slide shoe located intermediate between the inboard slide shoes with respect to a fore-and-aft direction, and the guide rail is provided with an inboard side defining an inboard guide slot and an outboard side defining an outboard guide slot adapted to receive the corresponding slide shoes, the outboard side of the guide rail being provided with a front end which is rearwardly offset from that of the inboard side of the guide rail. Thus, the front end of each guide rail is advanced as much as possible without increasing the exposure of such parts to the moisture that may drip from the fixed roof panel and/or moveable panel by taking into account the rounded shape of the opening in the fixed roof panel.

  • Patent number: 6231110
Abstract: A rear window is provided as a curved window, curved with an arc-like shape in the car width direction, with flexible frames disposed parallel along the upper side and the lower side of the curved window, mounted to a convertible top or hood. The flexible frames regain the straight shape at the time of folding the rear window so as to eliminate the curvature of the rear window in the car width direction as well as a linear fold can be formed in this direction without forming disadvantageous folds.

  • Patent number: 4995667
Abstract: A vehicle sliding roof system for a roof structure in which a roof opening extending substantially over the entire width of the roof is defined between a front roof and a rear roof. A moveable central roof is guided for its motion by a pair of guide arms each having one end slidably guided by a first guide rail provided in the fixed rear roof and another end guided by a second guide rail provided in the moveable central roof. As the one end of each of the guide arms is moved along the first guide rail, the guide arm turns from a relatively lateral attitude to a more longitudinal attitude. Additionally, each of the second guide rails extends obliquely in such a manner that an internal end of the second guide rail is located behind an external end of thereof. Owing to these geometrical arrangements of the guide arms and the guide rails, the travel of the moveable central roof is maximized for a given longitudinal dimension of the first guide rails, and the possible roof opening area is thus maximized.

  • Patent number: 4844532
Abstract: A sun-roof apparatus for a vehicle which comprises a sun-roof frame forming a gutter having at least two side portions and at least one raised rear portion at a higher height than the side portions, and interposed between the side portions. The gutter is provided under a roof outer plate having an opening opened and closed by a sun-roof panel. The gutter extends along at least three peripheral edges of the opening. An interior plate is arranged under the raised rear portion of the gutter. The interior plate is raised higher than the two side portions of the gutter and capable of moving between a closed position opposed to the opening and unopened position moved backward to a rear of the opening. A drain conduit is connected to each of the two side portions of the gutter. A connecting passage is arranged under the interior plate, wherein ends of the two side portions of the gutter which are close to one of the raised side portions are connected by a recessed groove.
