  • Publication number: 20090303628
Abstract: A magnetic disk device regularly monitors an abnormality in heads and, when detecting an abnormality in any head, transfers data in each cell corresponding to the head where the abnormality is detected to a replacement cell corresponding to another head. Then, in a management table, the magnetic disk device updates the logical address of the transfer-destination cell to the logical address of the transfer-source cell. Thereafter, the magnetic disk device deletes the data in the transfer-destination cell from the management table.

  • Patent number: 7620771
Abstract: A magnetic disk apparatus includes an input unit that inputs information on the number of sectors, which should be included in each cell, defined as performance adjusting information, a calculating unit that calculates, for each cell, the number of sectors included in the cell on the basis of constitution information of cells, a setting unit that sets, for each cell, sectors as many as a number, which is equivalent to a difference between the calculated number of sectors and the inputted number of sectors, as unused sectors. In the present invention, the magnetic disk apparatus adjusts the number of sectors included in each cell of the own device to the number of sectors defined in the performance adjusting information. Thus, even when a plurality of the magnetic disk apparatuses are manufactured, the numbers of sectors of cells are adjusted to the number of sectors defined in the performance adjusting information to make the numbers of cells identical.

  • Publication number: 20080238756
Abstract: A radio control transmitter for a model is disclosed wherein a control range is limited to not to exceed a maximum control range without using a mechanical means. In accordance with the transmitter, an added control range being a sum of two or more of the control ranges is calculated, whether the added control range exceeds a maximum control range set to correspond to the operating section of the object to be controlled is determined, and the control range is corrected when the added control range exceeds the maximum control range.

  • Patent number: 7343145
Abstract: In conventional radio controlled models, a receive frequency is changed with a changeover switch mounted in a receiver body. In the present invention, a frequency switching scheme, employing a radio system in which a transmitter switches the receive frequency, is provided. Using weak radio waves usable without authorization, the transmitter transmits frequency data set therein as a frequency switching signal to a receiver. In the receiver, the receive frequency is set to a predetermined weak radio wave frequency when the power source is turned on. Upon receiving the weak radio waves, the receiver reads the frequency data out of the set signal and stores it into the memory means. Thus, the frequency setting has been completed. When the receiver does not receive the frequency switching signal for a fixed period of time, it reads out the frequency data used previously from the data memory to start the receiving operation.

  • Patent number: 7280309
Abstract: An access performance adjusting method is adapted to a storage apparatus having a storage to prestore a skew quantity that is used to shift a data write starting position of each track of a recording medium depending on a head moving time required to move a head from one track to another track during a sequential access in which a plurality of tracks of the recording medium are accessed sequentially. The method includes measuring an apparatus performance with respect to a combination of the head and the recording medium, calculating a skew adjusting quantity with respect to the combination based on a reference apparatus performance and the measured apparatus performance, and adjusting the skew quantity read from the storage by the skew adjusting quantity and storing the adjusted skew quantity in the storage as an updated value of the skew quantity.

  • Patent number: 7263137
Abstract: A multivalued FSK modulation system is provided in which when data to be transmitted is multivalued and transmitted/received, the detection level is different every symbol. When a two-valued signal is transmitted as one symbol, data (11), (01), (00) and (10) are previously set to be, for example, a shift of ?6, a shift of +6, a shift of +2, and a shift of ?2, respectively. When data to be input next is (00), mapping is performed so as to provide a sign weight of +2 from the sign weight at the position of current data. When the data to be input next is (10), mapping is performed so as to provide a sign weight of ?2 from the position of the current sign weight. Thus, even if data of the same level is input, signals can be always detected in different levels, so that the sign detection point is not specified erroneously.
