  • Patent number: 7644793
Abstract: An automotive heat exchanging system has a heat exchanger comprising a condenser and a radiator, an electric fan located in the front of an engine and an automatic transmission. A shroud is attached to and covers peripheral portions of the electric fan and the heat exchanger to prevent air from bypassing the shutter. The shroud forms an air passage inside of it for allowing airflow through the heat exchanger to flow toward the automatic transmission. A shutter is disposed in the shroud and attached at a periphery of the shroud. The shutter is controlled to open and close the air passage by a controller based on oil temperature.

    Assignee: Calsonic Kansei Corporation
Inventors: Mitsuru Iwasaki, Junichiro Hara, Kazunori Namai, Hironori Muramoto, Michitake Sumida

  • Patent number: 6739290
Abstract: In a cooling system for a water-cooled internal combustion engine and a control method applicable to the control system, a pump to circulate a coolant to the water-cooled engine and a heat exchanger is drivingly controlled in such a manner that, when a temperature of the coolant detected by a temperature detector indicates a value higher than a predetermined target temperature, a flow state of the coolant circulated within a plurality of tubes arranged within the heat exchanger falls within a predetermined range including at least one of a transition range between a laminar flow range and a turbulence flow range and a part of the turbulence flow range which is placed in vicinity to the transition range (corresponding to 1800 through 6000 in Reynolds number) and the coolant is circulated through the pump into the water-cooled engine and the heat exchanger by a predetermined flow quantity.

  • Patent number: 6230793
Abstract: In an integral type heat exchanger, first and second radiator tanks is opposed to each other, and first and second condenser tanks opposed to each other. The first radiator tank is adjacent to the first condenser tank, and the second radiator tank is adjacent to the second condenser tank. A core section is arranged between the first and second radiator tanks and between the first and second condenser tanks so as to be common between the radiator tanks and condenser tanks. A cooling water flows from the first radiator tank into the second radiator tank through the core section in one direction, and a refrigerant flows between the first and second condenser tanks through the core section repeatedly. And a final flowing direction of the refrigerant conforms with a flowing direction of the cooling water.

  • Patent number: 6173766
Abstract: An integrated heat exchanger includes a radiator having a core formed between a pair of radiator tanks, a condenser adjoining the radiator and having the core formed between a pair of condenser tanks, and a corrugated fin provided in the core and shared between the radiator and the condenser, the heat exchanger containing first partitions which divide the inside of the pair of condenser tanks to thereby create fluid chambers on one side of the respective condenser tanks in such a way as to become opposite to each other; and a fluid inflow pipe and a fluid outflow pipe connected to the fluid chamber of the condenser tanks.
