  • Patent number: 8565994
Abstract: A hill start assistance method for a vehicle held in a stationary position by a braking system supplying a braking pressure, the braking system connected to a master cylinder controlled by a pressure transmitted by a user via a brake pedal. The method includes, upon detection of the release of pressure from the brake pedal by a pressure sensor: triggering a time-out; calculating a minimum pressure for holding the vehicle in a stationary position; and adjusting the braking pressure using the braking system such as to reduce the braking pressure in the braking system progressively. The system acts as a pressure regulator, and at the end of the time-out at the latest, the braking pressure is equal to a target pressure that is at least equal to the minimum pressure for holding the vehicle stationary.

  • Patent number: 8521387
Abstract: A method for assisting a motor vehicle with a hill start, the motor vehicle having previously been held stationary when parked by a brake. The method measures inclination of the vehicle, previously establishes a map between engine torque and engine speed, defines, within the map, an authorized zone and a forbidden zone, provides a vehicle engine speed value, provides a vehicle engine torque value, deduces from these coordinates of the engine operating point within the map, and releases the brake automatically only if the coordinates of the operating point lie within the authorized zone of the map.

  • Patent number: 8463517
Abstract: A method for hill start assistance for a motor vehicle and to an associated device that includes a clutch and a transmission between the clutch and driving wheels of the vehicle. The method determines the torque of the clutch for maintaining the vehicle in an immobile position based on a known engine torque, wherein the torque of the clutch is determined by taking into account a portion of the engine torque dedicated to operation of constituent mechanisms of the vehicle other than the clutch.

  • Patent number: 8412436
Abstract: A hill start assistance method for a user of a vehicle having a braking system and an electronic braking control, provided with at least one master cylinder pressure sensor, whereby the pressure on each caliper of the vehicle can be controlled. The method includes: estimating the torque transmitted by the clutch, recording information corresponding to the value of the master cylinder pressure resulting from a user's actuation of the brake pedal, and recording the information recorded corresponding to the value of the master cylinder pressure when the user actuates the brake pedal again by pressing harder on the pedal or partially releasing same. When the user releases the brake pedal fully, the braking system maintains the pressure on the calipers for a predetermined period of time, as a function of a pressure set value equal to the value of the last item of information recorded.

  • Publication number: 20120179351
Abstract: A control of a motor vehicle adaptive cruise control system in which a computer of the control system receives a set point speed value and information relating to the speed unit from an instrument panel computer via a CAN bus. The information relating to the speed unit received at the moment of activation of the cruise control system is stored in memory, and throughout the time for which the cruise control system is activated, any change in the information relating to the speed unit received by comparison with the information stored in memory is monitored. If need be, an information item relating to a speed unit fault is generated.

  • Publication number: 20100235064
Abstract: An assistance device for uphill movements of an automobile, including a first assistance calculator controlling a parking brake and automatically controlling release thereof when it is activated and when driving torque transmitted by a clutch is higher than a minimum threshold for maintaining the vehicle on a slope, a second assistance calculator controlling the driving brake and automatically controlling and maintaining its activation when it has been activated, when it is determined that the vehicle is immobile and when the clutch torque is lower than the minimum threshold, and automatically controlling the release thereof when it is activated and when the clutch torque is higher than the threshold, and a mechanism determining immobility of the vehicle, estimating the clutch torque, estimating the slope, and calculating a threshold.
