  • Patent number: 8792663
Abstract: The present application relates to a new type of hearing device housing having a canal section that is adapted for fitting in the ear canal of a wearer and having a short vent, the longitudinal extension of which is shorter than the longitudinal extension of the canal section, and an output port for emission of sound towards the eardrum of the wearer when inserted in the ear canal, and an outer ear section for accommodation of electronic components and being attached to the canal section and adapted for positioning in front of the ear during use, the short vent reducing the occlusion effect, wherein the canal section comprises an open and flexible earpiece manufactured in standard sizes. The hearing device may be a hearing aid, a headset, a headphone, etc. Unlike a conventional BTE (Behind-The-Ear) hearing aid having a housing to be positioned behind the ear, the housing of the hearing device according to the present invention is positioned in front of the ear, i.e. in front of the pinna.

  • Publication number: 20110290532
Abstract: A headphone cord sleeve includes: a flexible tubular sleeve including an opening at each of a first end and a second end; a reinforced section of the tubular sleeve adjacent the first end reducing the flexibility of the tubular sleeve over the length of the reinforced section; and a loop extending from the side wall of the flexible tube, adjacent to the reinforced section. A method of managing a headphone cord comprising the steps of: providing a tubular sleeve including a first opening and a second opening; positioning the tubular sleeve onto a headphone cord, wherein the headphone cord includes a jack plug, a jack cord, a cord split, a pair of earbud cords and a pair of earbud housings; and selectively positioning the tubular sleeve between a use position and a storage position.

  • Patent number: 6157717
Abstract: A snap hinge assembly for rotatably connecting a flip cover to a portable phone housing has only two parts, a hinge pin and a spring. The hinge pin is rotatably mounted in the housing and secured to the cover so as to rotate with the cover as it is opened and closed, and has a cam portion for engaging the spring. The spring is anchored in the housing and has a bearing portion for bearing against the cam portion as the pin rotates with the cover. The shape of the cam portion is such that the bearing portion is resiliently biased as the hinge pin rotates, and released at a predetermined orientation so as to snap the cover into either the open or closed position, depending on the direction of rotation of the pin. The cover is held by the engaging spring and cam surfaces in the open or closed position until positively urged towards the opposite end position.

  • Patent number: 6148079
Abstract: A hinge apparatus has relatively rotatable first and second parts, one of which is adapted to be secured to the phone housing and the other of which is adapted to be secured to a cover. One of the parts comprises a cam and the other comprises a follower, the cam having end stops corresponding to an open and a closed position of the cover relative to the housing, and a convex surface between the end stops to provide initial resistance to rotation of the cover out of the open and closed positions. The parts are spring loaded such that the cover is snapped into the open and closed positions, respectively, once the follower passes the arcuate surface of the cam.
