  • Patent number: 9521077
Abstract: A system may receive, based on a generic access point name stored by a user device, a request to establish a network connection. The request may include a user device identifier that identifies the user device. The system may determine, based on the user device identifier, a specific access point name associated with the user device. The specific access point name may be different from the generic access point name. The system may determine, based on the specific access point name, information that identifies a gateway node for processing traffic associated with the user device. The system may cause the network connection to be established based on the user device identifier and the information that identifies the gateway node.

  • Publication number: 20160269899
Abstract: A device forwards a set of packets between a first network device, associated with a first network, and a second network device, associated with a second network. The set of packets may be associated with permitting access, by a set of mobile devices connected to the first network, to the second network. The device may generate and store configuration information, identifying the set of mobile devices, based on the set of packets. The device may receive, from a third network device, a request associated with establishing a communication session between the third network device and a fourth network device associated with the second network, may determine, based on the configuration information, whether a particular mobile device, associated with the request, is permitted to establish the communication session, and may selectively create the communication session based on determining that the particular mobile device is permitted to establish the communication session.

  • Patent number: 9414227
Abstract: The instant application describes a method for enabling a mobile station to receive high quality mobile voice and multimedia services over the LTE network across the world, regardless of the operating frequency band of the LTE network. The method includes steps of receiving, over the WiFi network, a connection request at a router from the mobile station; upon determining the mobile station is authorized to use the router for connecting to the LTE network, establishing a WiFi connection with the mobile station; receiving, at the router and from the mobile station, registration information for receiving an IMS voice service on the LTE network; and upon successful authentication of the registration information, providing the mobile station with the voice grade quality of service using the router regardless of a difference in operating frequency between the LTE network and the mobile station.

  • Publication number: 20160182402
Abstract: A device may receive a request for domain name system (DNS) information to be provided to a user device communicating via a visited network. The device may identify roaming policy information associated with the user device and, based on the roaming policy information, may determine that the user device is restricted from sending or receiving data via the visited network. The device may determine DNS information, to be provided to the user device, that includes information that identifies a restricted DNS server to which the user device is to be directed. The device may provide the DNS information to the user device to cause the user device to be directed to the restricted DNS server. The user device may be directed to the restricted DNS server to permit a user of the user device to authorize the user device to send or receive data via the visited network.

  • Patent number: 9288750
Abstract: A method includes receiving, at a network device in a shared network that includes a plurality of PLMNs, a request from an inbound roaming user device to connect to a home network of the inbound roaming user device. The method also includes identifying, by the network device, a PLMN selected by the inbound roaming user device, and accessing a listing of allowed PLMNs and disallowed PLMNs for roaming in the shared network. The method includes determining whether the selected PLMN is an allowed PLMN and blocking the connection to the home network in response to a determination that the selected PLMN is not an allowed PLMN.

  • Publication number: 20150350874
Abstract: A device may receive a network identifier and roaming policy information associated with the network identifier. The roaming policy information may identify a manner in which to treat traffic associated with mobile devices that are associated with a home network identified by the network identifier. The device may store the network identifier and the roaming policy information using a global roaming policy data structure. The device may provide the network identifier and the roaming policy information to a mobility management entity device for storage using a local roaming policy data structure accessible by the mobility management entity device. The mobility management entity device may be one of multiple mobility management entity devices having access to respective local roaming policy data structures.

  • Patent number: 9191499
Abstract: A device may receive information identifying a call attempt associated with a calling device. The device may select a domain network, of a plurality of domain networks, for the call attempt. Each of the plurality of domain networks may be associated with a respective domain type. The device may identify the respective domain type associated with selected domain network. The device may cause a tone, associated with the respective domain type, to be output by the calling device to notify a user of the calling device that the call attempt is being made via the selected domain network.

  • Publication number: 20150215160
Abstract: A device may determine that a user device is to receive an update. The device may determine that the user device is not registered to a network associated with receiving the update. The device may provide a registration notification request based on determining that the user device is not registered to the network. The registration notification request may include information identifying the user device. The device may receive a response to the registration notification request. The response may indicate that the user device is registered to the network. The device may provide, based on receiving the response, an update message associated with the update. The update message may be destined for the user device and may include information indicating that the user device is to receive the update. The device may provide the update to the user device after providing the update message.

  • Patent number: 9060263
Abstract: A method and article for authenticating a mobile station subscribed to a home network, in a visited network, includes the steps of receiving, at a visited proxy controlled by the visited network, a request to authenticate the mobile station on the visited network. Then, authorizing the mobile station on the visited network based on a parameter in the request and a policy stored on the visited proxy. The proxy communicates a denial of authorization to the visited network when the policy identifies a denial of service and the proxy communicates with the home network the request to authenticate the mobile station on the visited network, when the policy identifies an acceptance of service.

  • Patent number: 8948750
Abstract: A method for providing roaming profiles to a VPMN includes receiving, at a HPMN, an authentication request to authorize a mobile station in the VPMN. The HPMN transmits, to the VPMN, an authorization answer in response to the authentication request. Once the VPMN determines that the mobile station is authorized to operate in the VPMN, the HPMN receives a visited profile request for the mobile station. The request is transmitted from the VPMN to the HPMN. The HPMN retrieves a home profile for the mobile station in the HPMN. A device in the HPMN modifies, based on an agreement between the VPMN and HPMN and other policies, the home profile to a visited profile. The modification occurs in the same, or in a different, device as the device from which the home profile was retrieved. The visited profile is transmitted to the VPMN in response to the request.
