Publication number: 20190390517Abstract: A base slat pry stopper, such as a base slat locking bracket, for locking a rolling shutter curtain covering an opening of a structure is disclosed. The base slat pry stopper may include a bracket base plate mounted to an opening bottom wall on an interior side of the shutter curtain, and a base slat engagement portion extending upward from the bracket base plate and above a top surface of the opening bottom wall. When the shutter curtain is unrolled to cover the opening, the base slat engagement portion engages the base slat to prevent the base slat from deflecting upward away from the opening bottom wall when a force applied from an exterior side of the shutter curtain causes the base slat to deflect toward the interior side of the structure and the shutter curtain. The base slat pry stopper may be permanently or removably installed.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 20, 2019Publication date: December 26, 2019Inventors: James V. Miller, Miguel Hernandez

Patent number: 9243614Abstract: A wind powered apparatus (or wind turbine) comprising a stator blade assembly and a rotor blade assembly wherein said stator blades assembly and said rotor blade assembly have counter rotating blades. Both sets of blades assemblies are connected to a generator and are operable to rotate the stator and rotor thereof in opposite directions relative to one another due to the blade arrangement between assemblies. The blades assemblies comprise a hub connected to an outer ring, wherein said outer ring comprises inward blades. The win turbine, more particularly the blade arrangement co-operates to improve performance of the apparatus by affecting its orientation and the rotational speed of the blades.Type: GrantFiled: June 5, 2013Date of Patent: January 26, 2016Inventors: Carlos Miro, Miguel Hernandez

Publication number: 20140074407Abstract: The present invention relates to a device and method for estimating energy expenditure during exercise. The device includes a module for estimating whether a person is exceeding their anaerobic threshold and, if they are exceeding their anaerobic threshold calculating the additional energy expenditure due to the anaerobic metabolism of ATP. The additional energy expenditure can then be added to an estimate of the energy expenditure due to aerobic metabolism and output to the user in order to provide an estimate of the energy expenditure occurring during anaerobic exercise.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 9, 2013Publication date: March 13, 2014Applicant: TOUMAZ HEALTHCARE LIMITEDInventors: Miguel HERNANDEZ-SILVEIRA, Su-Shin ANG
