An application can be downloaded and activated on smartphones that will enable them to capture an image of the video programming and recognize is with the help of a remote server, or wirelessly obtain a list of available (discovered) flat panel displays (multiple screens, depending on venue) that allow wireless access to data associated with video programming displayed (or previously displayed and stored in a queue) on flat panels. Video programming rendering on a flat panel of interest can be identified via the smartphone and the smartphone can access additional data either directly from the flat panel or from a remote server once the data has been identified and/or engage in an interactive session in association with the displayed programming or data.

Influence metric(s) may be calculated that indicate the influence of publishing user(s) in a network based on calculating a number of users who are exposed to published and republished item(s) at one or more levels, or ripples, as the item(s) propagate in the network through republication. Publishing users may be ranked according to their degree of influence in general, or their degree of influence with respect to one or more particular categories of subject matter for the published item(s). Categories may include hierarchically related categories, sub-categories, and so forth, of varying specificity.

Obtaining a first feature vector associated with the first data stream. Determining a potential well-site event by identifying, among a stored set of well-site event models, a second feature vector from an event model that correlates with the first feature vector, where the event model includes the potential well-site event. Then, sending an alert to a user device, where the alert informs a user of the potential well-site event.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and apparatuses disclosed enable wearable device (e.g., smartwatch) user access to secured electronic systems based on at least one of user authentication for access to secured electronic system by the wearable device, user biometric authentication by a wireless carrier, user biometric authentication by remote server, user location, and user proximity to a secured electronic system. A wearable device can include a telecommunications carrier identification module (e.g., SIM), cellular RF communications, and short-range RF communications. A registration module can register secure electronic systems, authenticate a wearable device user, and grant the wearable device user with access to secured electronic systems if the wearable device user is authenticated by at least one of the wearable device, the registration module, a carrier network, a remote server, and the secured electronic system. Authentication can include biometric measurement facilitated by the wearable device.

A video data rendering device of interest can be selected by the portable device and it can access data in addition to audio (either directly from the flat panel or from a remote server once the video data rendering device or the data has been identified) and/or engage in an interactive session.

During use, when the user has lost an object, such as a set of keys, or any other object to which the tracking device is attached, the user may transmit signal to the tracking device on a smartphone or tablet belonging to the user via a downloadable mobile application synced for use with the tracking device in order to easily guide the user to the lost object.

Abstract: An array of membranes comprising amphipathic molecules is formed using an apparatus comprising a support defining an array of compartments. Volumes comprising polar medium are provided within respective compartments and a layer comprising apolar medium is provided extending across the openings with the volumes. Polar medium is flowed across the support to displace apolar medium and form a layer in contact with the volumes, forming membranes comprising amphipathic molecules at the interfaces. In one construction of the apparatus, the support that comprises partitions which comprise inner portions and outer portions. The inner portions define inner recesses without gaps therebetween that are capable of constraining the volumes comprising polar medium contained in neighbouring inner recesses from contacting each other. The outer portions extend outwardly from the inner portions and have gaps allowing the flow of an apolar medium across the substrate.
