  • Patent number: 7054326
Abstract: A method of transmitting signalling information in a telecommunications network between peer user/application parts. Signalling information is transferred from a first user/application part to a Message Transfer Part (MTP) level 3, the information including a destination signalling point identifier identifying the signalling point at which the peer user/application part is located. The MTP level 3 determines from the destination signalling point identifier, a destination address suitable for conveying the signalling information to the destination signalling point. In the event that the destination address is an Internet Protocol (IP) address and Port number, the signalling information and the determined IP address and port number are transferred to an IP part for transmission over an IP network to the destination signalling point.

  • Publication number: 20060077965
Abstract: A method provides callback services in a communications system to a first party from a second party. The method includes supplying the second party with a telephone number of the first party in a first format. The method also includes selecting a numbering plan out of plurality of numbering plans based on at least one of the country and network where the second party is located. The method also includes converting the telephone number from the first format to a second format using the selected numbering plan.

  • Patent number: 6882638
Abstract: A method of transmitting signalling information in a Public Land Mobile Network (PLMN) between a pair of peer application part. An adaptation layer is interposed between the SCCP of an SS7 network and a TCP/IP part to allow signalling data to be transmitted to and from the SCCP via an IP based network. The adaptation layer provides for translation between Destination Point Codes (DPCs) and or global titles, used as addresses in the SS7 network, and IP addresses/port numbers for use in the IP network. The adaptation layer also provides for formatting of SCCP messages suitable for processing by the TCP/IP layers, and also for formatting signalling information flowing in the reverse direction.

  • Publication number: 20040249887
Abstract: A method of setting up a session between peer user terminals of a communication system, said session extending at least in part across a circuit switched access network. The method comprises transporting signalling to initiate said session between at least one of the peer user terminals and said communication system via an IP based packet switched access network using a call control protocol which is also used for setting up end-to-end packet switched sessions, and subsequently establishing said session based upon said signalling.

  • Patent number: 6775234
Abstract: A method of routing signalling information at a signalling point of a telecommunications network. A Global Title Routing Case (GTRC) table is provided for mapping Global Titles to GTRCs, where each GTRC is allocated a primary and secondary destination signalling point. At least one peak time period is predefined, and said primary and secondary destination signalling points are swapped during said peak period to allow for load sharing during this period. For a signalling transfer request received at the signalling point, the Global Title associated with the request is mapped to a GTRC using the GTRC table, and the destination signalling point is determined in dependence upon the primary and secondary destination signalling points allocated to the mapped GTRC and signalling point availability, and, the time at which the request is received.

  • Patent number: 6757552
Abstract: Method for transmitting signaling information in a telecommunications network between a pair of application parts, the method comprising the steps of: generating signaling information at a first application part, including addressing information associated with the second application part, passing the signaling Information from the application part to a Transaction Capabilities Application Part (TCAP); passing the signaling information from the TCAP to an adaptation layer arranged to determine an IP address and port number associated with the addressing information; passing the signaling Information and the IP address and port number to an Internet Protocol (IP) part and transmitting the signaling information over an IP network to the destination IP address in one or more IP datagrams; decapsulating the signaling information at the destination associated with the IP address and at an adaptation layer identified by the port number; and routing the signaling information to the second application part.
