  • Patent number: 9953845
Abstract: A method of manufacturing an electronic module includes providing a conductive strip and a dielectric material. The method includes coating the dielectric material and the conductive strip to form a layered structure having a conductive layer defined by the conductive strip and a dielectric layer defined by the dielectric material. The method includes applying a carrier strip to the layered structure. The method includes processing the conductive layer to form a circuit while the layered structure is on the carrier strip. The method includes removing the carrier strip from the layered structure. The method includes applying the layered structure with the circuit to an electronic module substrate.

  • Patent number: 9740313
Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices for monitoring use of a tip of a stylus, determining an amount of wear of or life remaining in the tip, and notifying a user when to replace the tip are disclosed. The tip should be replaced to avoid an abrasive material of the tip from being exposed and contacting a touch screen or other surface of a computing device to avoid scratching or otherwise damaging the touch screen or other surface of the computing device. The computing device or the stylus device may perform one or more of the monitoring, determining, or prompting steps.

  • Patent number: 9612671
Abstract: A removable stylus tip for use with an active stylus. The tip is capable of exchanging electrical communications with the touchscreen of a computing device. The tip includes a conductive core to transmit signals between the stylus body and a cone-shaped end of the stylus core. The cone-shaped end is covered with a coating to protect the tip and the touchscreen device. The coating is a composite material configured to allow electrical signals to pass through the material as well as to provide mechanical protection to components of the tip and touchscreen.

  • Patent number: 9507381
Abstract: A system for magnetically coupling a stylus device to a computing device is disclosed. The computing device may include a first pair of magnets disposed in or on the computing device, wherein the first pair of magnets include two magnets proximate to each other and of opposite magnetic polarity. The stylus device may include a second pair of magnets disposed in or on the stylus device, wherein the second pair of magnets include two magnets proximate to each other and of opposite magnetic polarity. The first and second pairs of magnets are oriented to align opposite poles of the magnets to couple the stylus device to the computing device, and the magnetic interactions resist rotational and shear forces, and resist the stylus device being placed in an incorrect position on the computing device.

  • Patent number: 9239639
Abstract: An electronic stylus device includes one or more mechanisms that deform to protected an electronic force sensor. After the mechanism deforms to relieve force applied to a tip of the stylus, a hard stop may engage to arrest further movement of a shaft transferring force from the tip to the force sensor. The intermediate range of forces that may be relieved by the mechanism, in addition to providing the electronic force sensor, enables less stringent manufacturing tolerances to be used with the hard stop.
