  • Patent number: 4490252
Abstract: A magnetic apparatus comprising an electromagnetic coil surrounding a feed water inlet tube, having an electrical D.C. winding about the tube and a ferromagnetic helix closely fitting within the inside of the tube rotating in response to water pressure. The magnetic helix which rotates in response to water flow in the casing fits quite closely to the inner wall of the tube, the helix being only slightly smaller than the inside diameter of the tube to thereby create a flow directed tangentially along the tube surface the helix further creates an induced electromagnetic field interaction with the winding to direct the magnetic lines of force within the casing. This combines electromagnetic forces and water flowing forces to prevent calcareous deposition along the walls of said casing and to assist in keeping the walls of deposits.

  • Patent number: 4406794
Abstract: An improved electromagnetic boiler water conditioning apparatus and method for energy saving, comprising an electromagnetic water treatment unit combined with an external sludge collector attached to the boiler for boiler bottom blowdown by means of a solenoid valve controlled by a conductivity probe within the boiler. The probe is electrically connected to the solenoid blowdown valve. The blowdown is initiated by the conductivity probe whenever the dissolved solids within the boiler as a result of evaporation become too high. The external sludge collector permits unimpeded removal of sludge formed in the boiler passing into the collector and is a straight pipe having a diameter of about 21/2 to 4 times, preferably 3 times, the diameter of the standard openings at the bottom of the boiler. The level of the water to the boiler is maintained by an automatic level control which can also be cleaned through the sludge collector.

  • Patent number: 4347133
Abstract: An electromagnetic ground water conditioning system and sampling device comprising a holding tank, a pump, filters and timers to regulate the time and duration of blowout of settled solids at the bottom of the tank. The electromagnetic water conditioning unit is that disclosed and claimed in my allowed patent application Ser. No. 153,219 filed May 27, 1980, entitled Free Flow Non-Corrosive Water Treatment Device, now U.S. Pat. No. 4,288,323. A blowout valve at the bottom of the tank is solenoid operated and regulated to discharge a small liquid volume of settled solids. One timer is a 24-hour timer to set the blowdown start, the other is a 30-minute timer which sets the duration of the blowdown. For ground water or sewage water or industrial waste water a 2-hour setting on the 24-hour timer and a 10-second setting on the 60-second timer is preferred. The amount blown out is 1/10 gallon.

  • Patent number: 4288323
Abstract: A unitary package for water treatment for attachment to a home hot water heater, boiler and the like which is adapted to be easily serviced and installed by the home owner. The water treatment device is constructed to provide free and unobstructed flow of water with no restriction and provides a long-lasting life with very little maintenance. The water treatment device comprises an electromagnetic coil energized by D.C. which completely encircles a control conduit pipe. This pipe is provided at the inlet thereof with a T-shaped fitting having an inlet; the pipe is also provided at the outlet thereof with a similar T-shaped fitting having an outlet. Each of the T-shaped fittings is provided with a male plug at opposing ends for supporting a bearing bushing beyond the inlet and outlet openings of the T-shaped fittings. Each of the bearing bushings supports a solid helical impeller and shaft which rotates only when water flows through the central pipe.

  • Patent number: 4226720
Abstract: A unitary package for water treatment for attachment to a home hot water heater which is adapted to be easily serviced and readily monitored by the homeowner. The water treatment device is an electrical device especially adapted for separating magnetic particles such as iron particles in feed water pipes to home hot water heaters and the like. The basic structure comprises an electromagnetic coil energized by household line voltage which completely encircles the inlet pipe. The inside of the inlet pipe is fitted with special bearings which support a solid helical impeller which rotates only when water flows through the pipe. The helical impeller is made of ferromagnetic material and is fitted to a very close tolerance to the wall of the inlet pipe thereby sweeping in a broom fashion the inner wall free from particles which tend to deposit on the wall. The electromagnetic unit is a separate part of the package and is completely contained within a housing.

  • Patent number: 4151090
Abstract: A unitary package for water treatment for attachment to a home hot water heater which is adapted to be easily serviced and readily monitored by the homeowner. The water treatment device is an electrical machine especially adapted for separating magnetic particles in feed water pipes to home hot water heaters and the like. The electrical parts for operating the machine comprise a transformer fitted with a safety fuse in the primary winding thereof which steps down incoming household line voltage from 110-125 volts AC to about 24.+-. 4 volts DC in the secondary winding. The secondary winding provides a constant DC voltage to an electromagnetic coil surrounding the inlet pipe. The inside of the inlet pipe is fitted with a special spiral band impeller or a solid helical impeller which rotates only when the water flows.

  • Patent number: 4148731
Abstract: Apparatus for use in settling or separating finely divided solids, i.e., minerals, from a liquid such as water in which they are suspended. A plurality of settling tanks is provided, each of which is flow connected in series at about the mid-level, which receives processed supernatant fluid in stages. The mineral content of the water in each tank tends to settle by gravity toward the bottom of each tank and is extracted from each tank by extractor pumps. The initial high mineral water is pumped into the first stage tank and is pre-treated by an electromagnet unit surrounding a pipe which contains a helical screw impeller, and each of the succeeding tanks is provided with a pump at about the mid-level and is similarly pre-treated by a similar electromagnetic field and screw impeller in the flow line.
