  • Publication number: 20230392861
Abstract: The present invention corresponds to a gas cooling and condensing system using fluid energy and comprising a gas feed line, a first vortex tube connected to the gas feed line, a second vortex tube connected to the first vortex tube and a first heat exchanger connected to the second vortex tube and to the gas feed line. Said gas cooling and condensing system is a modular system, which may be replicated and connected in series or in parallel to another modular system to obtain a cooler or higher mass flow gas than that obtained with a single modular system. Moreover, the system of the present invention is optionally connected to thermal recovery, pressure recovery, recirculation or venting elements for the utilization of the waste gas streams. Furthermore, the system of the present invention does not require additional energy to that obtained from the pressure of the feed line for obtaining liquefied gas.

  • Publication number: 20060142323
Abstract: A family of compounds of formula (I) wherein: X is one of the following radicals: which behaves as dual site acetyl-cholinesterase inhibitors and which are especially useful for the treatment of cognitive disorders as senile dementia, cerebrovascular dementia, mild cognition impairment, attention deficit disorder, and/or neurodegenerative dementing disease with aberrant protein aggregations as specially Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson disease, ALS, or prion diseases, as Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease or Gerst-mann-Straussler-Scheiner disease.

  • Publication number: 20060116428
Abstract: The present invention relates to an ophthalmic solution for the clarification of vitreous hemorrhages. More specifically, it relates to a pharmaceutically acceptable intraocular injectable solution, for the treatment of vitreous hemorrhages, whereby the reabsorption of such hemorrhage is encouraged. It enables the clarification of the vitreous hemorrhage in a significantly short period of time to allow for the timely diagnosis of the lesion and the repair of the damage the hemorrhage has caused to the vitreous body. The ophthalmic solution of the present invention is injected at least once into the vitreous humor of the patient in a therapeutically effective dose to obtain the desired result.

  • Publication number: 20050222220
Abstract: Provided are thiadiazolidine compounds of formula I wherein R1 is an organic group having at least 8 atoms selected from C or O, which is not linked directly to the N through a —C(O)— and comprising at least an aromatic ring, and their pharmaceutical compositions. These compounds are selective GSK-3 inhibitors and have improved bioavailability. They are useful for the treatment of GSK-3 mediated diseases, among others Alzheimer's disease, type II diabetes, depression and brain injury.

  • Publication number: 20050148621
Abstract: The invention provides compounds of formula: which have a tacrine moiety connected to an heterocyclic moiety through a linker. Through careful selection of the substituents and the linker, the activity and selectivity towards acetylcholinesterase can be modulated. The compounds show potent AChE inhibition activities together with modifications in the ?-amyloid aggregation properties by binding simultaneously to the catalytic and peripheral AChE sites. They are useful in the treatment of AChE mediated diseases, such as the Alzheimer's disease.

  • Patent number: 3968334
Abstract: A novel method and apparatus is disclosed for audiometrically testing the effectiveness and fitting of insert-type hearing protective devices whereby each ear is enclosed in a separate and portable audiometric enclosure having a telephonic earphone arrangement, the interior of each enclosure being freely spaced from the respective pinna of the ear to avoid any physical contact therebetween that may otherwise distort the ear canal supporting the protective device to be tested. Predetermined audiometric signals may be transmitted to each ear separately, both with and without the protective device, to obtain the difference of hearing thresholds and thereby determine separately, if needed, the fitting of each protective device, and its "real ear attenuation".
