  • Publication number: 20190081688
Abstract: Methods and apparatus are described. A method, implemented in a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) includes monitoring a first control channel search space (SS) associated with a first normal beam set comprising a first beam set. The WTRU initiates extended monitoring and monitors, subsequent to a trigger based on a measurement by the WTRU, a control channel SS associated with an extended beam set comprising the first beam set and one or more additional beam sets. The WTRU determines a second beam set from the extended beam set. The determination is based on a received control channel beam switch command or based on a control channel SS in which a beam switch command is received. The WTRU monitors a second control channel SS associated with a second normal beam set comprising the determined second beam set.

  • Publication number: 20190029009
Abstract: Methods and devices may be provided for aggregating component carriers in the licensed spectrum with at least one component carriers in the licensed exempt spectrum. Control information may be processed in a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) while receiving and sending information on a primary component carrier (PCC) and a supplementary component carrier (SuppCC). A PCC subframe with a control portion and a data portion may be received. Resource assignment information associated with a downlink shared channel on the PCC may be embedded in the control portion of the subframe. Based on the resource assignment information on the PCC, resource assignment information associated with a downlink shared channel on the SuppCC may be identified in the data portion of the PCC subframe. A SuppCC subframe of the shared channel on the SuppCC may be processed as per the identified resource assignment information associated with the downlink shared channel on the SuppCC.

  • Patent number: 10178553
Abstract: A shared spectrum manager (SSM) may enable spectrum access for Tier 2 Users (T2Us) and Tier 3 Users (T3Us) while provisioning quality of access (QoA) in a dynamic shared spectrum environment while ensuring sufficient spectrum and interference protection for Tier 1 Users (T1Us). The SSM may enable new user spectrum authorizations by sending, to a regulator, a request for administrative information, and receiving, from the regulator, a policy and user authorization information for at least one user. The SSM may register a T2U with or without contacting the regulator. The SSM may perform quality based admission control by receiving periodic measurements from a master device of each T2U with an active frequency assignment indicating a Quality of Operation (QoO) experienced by the respective T2U, maintaining a map of an effective QoOs for a plurality of T2Us, and categorizing protection contours associated with each of the plurality of T2Us.

  • Publication number: 20180375707
Abstract: Methods and systems for operation in a wireless network are provided, the method including receiving modulated data symbols and zeros in a frequency-domain, and mapping in the frequency-domain the modulated data symbols and zeros in an interleaved manner to sub-carriers within a resource allocation. The method further includes generating a time-domain data signal based on the mapped sub-carriers, and generating a time domain cancellation signal by sign inverting and repeating a predetermined number of time-domain samples at a tail portion of the data signal. The method further includes combining the time-domain data signal and the time domain cancellation signal to generate an exact zero tail data signal such that the exact zero tail data signal has a zero tail length equal to the predetermined number of time-domain samples, and transmitting the exact zero tail data signal.

  • Publication number: 20180310283
Abstract: Transmit and/or receive beamforming may be applied to the control channel transmission/reception, e.g., in mmW access link system design. Techniques to identify candidate control channel beams and/or their location in the subframe structure may provide for efficient WTRU operation. A framework for beam formed control channel design may support varying capabilities of mBs and/or WTRUs, and/or may support time and/or spatial domain multiplexing of control channel beams. For a multi-beam system, modifications to reference signal design may discover, identify, measure, and/or decode a control channel beam. Techniques may mitigate inter-beam interference. WTRU monitoring may consider beam search space, perhaps in addition to time and/or frequency search space. Enhancements to downlink control channel may support scheduling narrow data beams. Scheduling techniques may achieve high resource utilization, e.g., perhaps when large bandwidths are available and/or WTRUs may be spatially distributed.

  • Publication number: 20180270815
Abstract: Coexistence gaps may permit one radio access technology (RAT) to coexists with another RAT by providing period in which one RAT may be silent and another may transmit. Methods may account for the RAT traffic and for the presence of other secondary users in a channel. Methods may be provided to dynamically change the parameters of a coexistence gap pattern, such as the duty cycle, to adapt to both the RAT traffic and the presence of other secondary users. Methods may include PHY methods, such as synchronization signal (PSS/SSS) based, MIB based, and PDCCH based, MAC CE based methods, and RRC Methods. Measurements may be provided to detect the presence of secondary users, and may include reporting of interference measured during ON and OFF durations, and detection of secondary users based on interference and RSRP/RSRQ measurements.

  • Publication number: 20180176065
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for initial cell search and selection using beamforming are described. An apparatus is configured with multiple receive beams and includes an antenna and a processor. The processor is operatively coupled to the antenna and sweeps a respective one of the multiple receive beams during each of multiple synchronization sub-frames, using a pre-defined sweep time and dwell period, to detect a synchronization signal. The processor also obtains symbol timing information and a synchronization signal index from the detected synchronization signal. The obtained synchronization signal index corresponds to a synchronization signal index of the set. The process decodes a first broadcast channel using the obtained symbol timing information, the obtained synchronization signal index and a predefined or blind-coded symbol distance between the detected synchronization signal and the first broadcast channel.

  • Patent number: 9992780
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for shared access systems may be used to allow operation in three-tiered shared spectrum architecture. For example, a Shared Spectrum Manager (SSM) may organize spectrum segments. The SSM may communicate with access users of different priority and may use message exchanges to request spectrum, bid for spectrum, manage spectrum, or the like. The SSM may manage admission of access users (allocation of spectrum to users) and operation with a spectrum request that may be provided as a range between a minimum (guaranteed) and maximum quality of operation. The SSM may also manage the way an access user may use the assigned spectrum. Inter-SSM communication may be used in regions where multiple SSMs may exist (e.g. country borders). Accordingly, triggers for this inter-SSM communications and corresponding actions are also disclosed herein.
