Abstract: A method, a system and a computer readable medium are disclosed for storing medical image data in a clinic which includes a plurality of satellites as stations. In this arrangement, the image data captured by a modality are all stored in an STS memory and in a long-term storage device. The image data selected as being relevant are stored in a cache which allows rapid access to the data. Hence, a layered memory system with different access times is proposed, wherein the respective satellites and the respective entities are able to interchange data with one another and can also load and store image data from other satellites.
