  • Patent number: 7483171
Abstract: An inverse transfer function of a limited bit depth output device having N primary colorants (e.g., a six-color printer) is determined. An N-dimensional hypercube that has been tessellated into a set of simplices is accessed, and the set of simplices is navigated through to select a subset that defines a one-to-one mapping of device-independent color space to device primary space.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 13, 2004
Date of Patent: January 27, 2009
    Assignee: Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.
Inventors: Ufuk Agar, Miheer Bhachech, Gabor Herman
  • Patent number: 7324703
Abstract: A system and a method are provided for correcting the effect of non-uniform illumination on a reproduced image of a 2-D object. An image of a reference card in an illuminated setting is captured by an image capturing device. A 2-D object is placed in the same illuminated setting and the image of the object is captured. Next, a smoothing function for the reference card image is generated. The smoothing function is used to generate a smoothed reference card image. The smoothed reference card image is processed to compute inverse correction values, which are mathematical inverse of the pixel values in the smoothed reference card image. A pixel-by-pixel correction is then applied to the captured image of the 2-D object using the inverse correction values.

  • Publication number: 20060139479
Abstract: A method and system for processing images to, for example, capture artwork includes capturing a target image and an image of a reference. The reflectance functions of the target image are then measured. The target image is processed, using the measured reflectance functions and the captured image of the reference, to calculate a correction transform associated with the captured target image.
