The authoring system is provided with a storage unit for storing the contents; a first display unit for displaying a first graphical user interface for specifying attribute values; a search unit for searching the tree structure contained in the contents to determine whether determination by a first attribute value and by a second attribute value may overlap each other for the appearance of a first element to be edited, using the first graphical user interface; and a second display unit for displaying information related to an overlapping on the first graphical user interface, on condition that a determination unit has determined that there is overlapping.
