  • Patent number: 7889798
Abstract: A method of reducing the peak-to-mean ratio of a multi-carrier signal includes the steps of: generating a residual signal from the multicarrier signal, the residual signal representing the difference between the multicarrier signal and a hard-clipped multicarrier signal. The method also includes the steps of applying a least squares function to the residual signal for each carrier of the multi-carrier signal, thereby generating a minimized residual signal for each carrier and combining the minimized residual signals and the multicarrier signal.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: February 15, 2011
    Assignee: Nokia Corporation
    Inventors: Olli Piirainen, Miia Karjalainen
  • Patent number: 7313114
Abstract: The invention relates to a base transceiver station in a CDMA mobile telephone system, including a mechanism for maintaining a code tree which determines spreading codes to be used in the system, a mechanisms for selecting a spreading code from the code tree for the communication between the base transceiver station and terminal equipment communicating with the base transceiver station. The mechanisms for selecting a spreading code are configured to select a highest level in the code tree which includes at least one branch of the code tree whose spreading codes are allocatable, and allocate for use a spreading code generated from a branch of the selected level whose spreading codes are allocatable. The invention further relates to a method and a communication system in connection with Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) technology.

  • Patent number: 7197287
Abstract: A transmitter compensates for the non-linearities within a transmission chain. The transmitter includes, for instance, a first forming device for forming, on the basis of at least one set of signal properties, at least one state expansion vector comprising quantities characterizing a signal. The transmitter includes a modifier for modifying the signal characterizing quantities of at least one state expansion vector with the at least one time-domain compensation parameter vector and with the at least one frequency-domain compensation parameter vector to form a pre-distorted signal. The transmitter includes a second forming device for forming a feedback signal from an output signal of a transmission chain. The transmitter includes an adapter for adapting at least one time-domain compensation parameter vector for adapting at least one frequency-domain compensation parameter vector based on a residual error between a transmit signal and the feedback signal.
