Determining at the first network element the type of the first message, and in dependence on the type of the first message sending from the first network element to the user equipment an error message including an indication that the serving network element is out of service.

Abstract: A method for controlling registration in a communication system is provided. In the method, a request for registration of a user relating to a subscriber is received in a network entity. The method further comprises providing the network entity with control information associated with at least one limitation regarding simultaneous registrations allowed for the subscriber or the user and controlling the registration based on the control information. Furthermore, a communication system and a network entity configured to control a registration are provided.

Abstract: The invention provides a method and system for handling a session setup procedure initiated by an user equipment for establishing a session of a specific type to a called entity, wherein a session setup request sent to a network entity for establishing the requested session, includes location information and an identifier for identifying the called entity. A database is provided which stores a list of location information and associated identifiers. The network entity accesses this database, wherein, when detecting that the identifier represents a session of the specific type in an area represented by the location information, the session set-up is continued in a manner appropriate for a session of the specific type.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a session handling entity and an application server (AS) in a communication system, the session handling entity (S-CSCF) is obtaining, from a register entity, a correlation identity for a registering private user identity of a user, transmitting the correlation identity as part of a registration procedure to the application server, and the application server initiates, based on a received session request associated with the user, at least one session request towards corresponding number of devices of the user wherein the application server is configured to check the correlation identity to ensure that not more than one session request is initiated for each device of the user.

When detecting that the session to be initiated is an emergency session, an information is returned to the user equipment for informing the latter that the initiated session is an emergency session. The user equipment thereupon initiates the execution of an emergency session. The method includes distinguishing different control plane sessions by a user equipment, and identifying media flows of a same application among the different control plane sessions by the user equipment by setting a service identifier. Abstract: A system for updating communication services includes user equipment configured to communicate using a first communication service standard and a second communication service standard, a subscriber database, an application server, and a network device. The network device detects an update trigger corresponding to a user equipment, requests that the user equipment discontinue using the first communication service standard, and flags the user equipment as updated by communicating with the application server and the subscriber database. The network device also receives a communication from the user equipment and determines whether the communication corresponds to the first communication service standard or the second communication service standard. If the communication corresponds to the first communication service standard the network device communicates an error message to the user equipment.
