The peripheral region at least partially surrounds the hitting region such that the hitting region and the peripheral region define therebetween a visually-recognizable hitting region boundary line including a sole-proximate boundary line segment such that when the club head is oriented in a reference position relative to a virtual ground plane, and in a virtual vertical plane perpendicular to the hitting region and passing through the face center, the sole-proximate boundary line segment is vertically spaced above the leading edge by a distance D1 that is no less than 2.5 mm.

Abstract: A putter-type golf club head that, when oriented in a reference position, includes a blade portion comprising a striking face, a top line, and a sole, the striking face including a face center. A rear portion of the club head is in communication with, and rearward of, the blade portion. An alignment element of the club head is rearward of, and recessed toward the sole from, the top line, and the alignment element defines a virtual center line segment oriented in a substantially front-to-rear direction at a height equal to about 21.3 mm to about 21.4 mm. Abstract: An insert for a golf club head, wherein the insert includes a generally planar base surface and a maximum thickness, Tmax, measured perpendicular to the base surface. The insert further includes a first component comprising a non-metallic material, and a second component coupled to the first component and comprising a continuous, formed metal sheet having a thickness between 0.01 mm and 3.0 mm, the second component extending a maximum distance, D, in a direction perpendicular to the base surface, that is no less than 6 mm. The insert is configured such that a ratio D/Tmax is no less than 0.50.

Abstract: A grip for a putter-type golf club including a bottom end having a recess to receive a golf shaft, and a top end opposite the bottom end. The recess defines a longitudinal axis, and an exterior side surface extends about the circumference of the longitudinal axis. The exterior side surface defines a generally planar portion and a generally arcuate portion adjoining the planar portion. A grip cross-section no greater than 15 mm from the top end includes a planar portion cross-sectional width no less than 4 mm, a first cross-sectional length, L1, and a maximum cross-sectional width located at a depth D1 from the planar portion such that D1/L1 is no greater than 0.40. According to another aspect, a grip cross-section between 120 mm and 140 mm from the top end includes a cross-sectional maximum width, W3, and a cross-sectional length, L3, such that W3/L3 is no greater than 0.90.

Abstract: A golf club head according to the present invention includes a face portion, a crown portion and a sole portion, the sole portion including a toe-side recessed portion arranged on a toe side, a heel-side recessed portion arranged on a heel side, and a middle recessed portion arranged between the toe-side recessed portion and the heel-side recessed portion, and at least one readily deformable portion that extends linearly in a toe-heel direction is formed in the toe-side recessed portion and the heel-side recessed portion.

Abstract: A coupling for securing a golf shaft to a golf club head includes a first component configured to contact, and engage with, the golf shaft, and a second component bonded to the first component and configured to space the first component from the golf club head. The second component includes a second material having a Young's modulus less than a first material of the first component. In another aspect, a coupling includes a shaft engagement element, and a spacer configured to space the first component from the golf club head so that the golf shaft is above the golf club head in its entirety. The spacer includes a material having a Young's modulus no greater than about 10 Gpa. In another aspect, a kit includes a first coupling and a second coupling with at least one of a structural configuration or a material of a vibration dampening element differing.

The variably textured region includes a central portion and an outer portion laterally spaced from the central portion towards one of the heel portion and the toe portion. The central portion has a material ratio of less than 20% at a cutoff height of 0.1 mm and the outer portion has a material ratio greater than that of the central portion at the cutoff height of 0.1 mm. Variation of the textured region provides consistent ball speed upon impact at different lateral positions of the striking face.
