Patent number: 9014408Abstract: A subwoofer (10) structure comprised of a transducer (30) located in a loudspeaker enclosure (11), an acoustic duct (21) expanding in a horn-like manner, a frontal chamber (40) and an aperture (22). A sound wave emanating from the transducer is conveyed via the acoustic duct portion expanding in a horn-like manner to the frontal chamber, and a sound wave emanating from the opposite side of the transducer is conveyed either to a closed space (20) or directly to the frontal chamber. The subwoofer can be adjusted without altering the external dimensions of the loudspeaker enclosure, utilising the entire volume of the loudspeaker enclosure, so that the frontal chamber is tuned by altering the size of the frontal chamber and/or the size of the aperture in the frontal chamber.Type: GrantFiled: May 31, 2010Date of Patent: April 21, 2015Assignee: Aura Audio OyInventors: Jan Thomé, Mika Isotalo

Patent number: 7650006Abstract: A method and a loudspeaker construction (10), in which loudspeaker construction spherical acoustic wave fronts emitted by the diaphragms (12) of speaker elements (11) are transformed into a uniform, planar acoustic wave front. The loudspeaker construction (10) comprises a plane wave channel (20), in the surface (26) of which plane wave channel directed towards the diaphragm (12) there are adjacent sound inlet apertures (24) for transmitting acoustic waves into ducts (23) and, on the opposite side (22) of the plane wave channel, there are outlet apertures (25) for transmitting acoustic waves from the ducts into a horn portion (30). The ducts (23) taper so that the width (B) of the outlet apertures located in a row on the side of the horn portion is less than half the diameter (D) of the diaphragm.Type: GrantFiled: April 29, 2005Date of Patent: January 19, 2010Assignee: Aura Audio OyInventor: Mika Isotalo

Patent number: 6480724Abstract: A modular system for personal data acquisition and communication, is expanded advantageously a cellular telephone system the functions of which can be increased by means of various expansion cards. A host device in the system according to the invention, such as a mobile communication device, need not be equipped with all possible functions in the manufacturing stage but some of the functions can be realized on expansion cards, and the user can add a desired function to the host device according to need. The expansion cards are small and they are installed substantially inside the host device, such as a mobile communication device, so that the entity formed by the host device and the expansion card seems to the user as a single compact device. Advantageously, the expansion cards include, in addition to the hardware needed, also the software required for controlling the operation of the modules.Type: GrantFiled: April 6, 2001Date of Patent: November 12, 2002Assignee: Nokia Mobile Phones Ltd.Inventors: Marko Erkkilä, Arto Peuhu, Jouko Haavisto, Mika Isotalo

Patent number: 6385054Abstract: An electronic device (10), comprising at least one circuit board (11); an interference screen (30) to be connected to said circuit board; and a power supply (20) comprising a first terminal (21) and a second terminal (22). The device is characterized in that said screen (30) comprises means (35) for fixing the power supply (20) to the screen (30) in such a way that an electrical connection is established between the screen (30) and the first terminal (21) of the power supply (20). The arrangement of the device facilitates the reliable fixing of a power supply and saves space on a circuit board in a way suited for mass production.Type: GrantFiled: November 30, 1999Date of Patent: May 7, 2002Assignee: Nokia Mobil Phones Ltd.Inventors: Seppo Vesamäki, Timo T. Patent number: 5943628Abstract: A radiotelephone proximity detector including a first proximity unit having a receiver and a second proximity unit having a transmitter, wherein the units can be coupled together and the coupling can be detected. One of the units is associated with a radiotelephone and the other with a user. When the units are coupled, they are responsive to the detection of their uncoupling, whereupon the transmitter of the second proximity unit transmits a proximity signal to the receiver of the first unit. The first proximity unit estimates the proximity of the radiotelephone and the user on the basis of the received proximity signal. Thus the two units operate together such that, when coupled, at least one of the units enters a standby mode, and when uncoupled, at least one of the units sends a proximity signal to the other unit.Type: GrantFiled: October 22, 1997Date of Patent: August 24, 1999Assignee: Nokia Mobile Phones LimitedInventors: Steven Barrett, Jouko Haavisto, Mika Isotalo
