A sound wave emanating from the transducer is conveyed via the acoustic duct portion expanding in a horn-like manner to the frontal chamber, and a sound wave emanating from the opposite side of the transducer is conveyed either to a closed space (20) or directly to the frontal chamber. The subwoofer can be adjusted without altering the external dimensions of the loudspeaker enclosure, utilising the entire volume of the loudspeaker enclosure, so that the frontal chamber is tuned by altering the size of the frontal chamber and/or the size of the aperture in the frontal chamber.

The ducts (23) taper so that the width (B) of the outlet apertures located in a row on the side of the horn portion is less than half the diameter (D) of the diaphragm.

    Abstract: A modular system for personal data acquisition and communication, is expanded advantageously a cellular telephone system the functions of which can be increased by means of various expansion cards. A host device in the system according to the invention, such as a mobile communication device, need not be equipped with all possible functions in the manufacturing stage but some of the functions can be realized on expansion cards, and the user can add a desired function to the host device according to need. The expansion cards are small and they are installed substantially inside the host device, such as a mobile communication device, so that the entity formed by the host device and the expansion card seems to the user as a single compact device. Advantageously, the expansion cards include, in addition to the hardware needed, also the software required for controlling the operation of the modules.

    Abstract: A radiotelephone proximity detector including a first proximity unit having a receiver and a second proximity unit having a transmitter, wherein the units can be coupled together and the coupling can be detected. One of the units is associated with a radiotelephone and the other with a user. When the units are coupled, they are responsive to the detection of their uncoupling, whereupon the transmitter of the second proximity unit transmits a proximity signal to the receiver of the first unit. The first proximity unit estimates the proximity of the radiotelephone and the user on the basis of the received proximity signal. Thus the two units operate together such that, when coupled, at least one of the units enters a standby mode, and when uncoupled, at least one of the units sends a proximity signal to the other unit.
