  • Patent number: 7684795
Abstract: A mobile communication system includes a home location register that transmits an inquiry to the visitor location register about services supported by the visitor location register in response to receiving a location update message, receives a reply from the visitor location register, determines the services supported by the visitor location register based on the reply received from the visitor location register and transmits information to the visitor location register on services that, according to the information stored in the home location register, are available to the subscriber and that are supported by the visitor location register. Similarly, the visitor location register receives the inquiry about the services from the home location register, transmits the information to the home location register on the services supported by the visitor location register in response to the inquiry, and receives the transmitted information.

  • Patent number: 7318159
Abstract: The invention relates to a mobile system and especially to detecting, in the mobile system in question, the use of terminal equipment having a copied mobile equipment identity. In the invention, a database containing records is created, each record containing an international mobile equipment identity associated with a mobile station and an international mobile subscriber identity, a check is made to see whether the database contains a record which contains a mobile equipment identity corresponding to the mobile equipment identity transmitted by the mobile station, but whose mobile subscriber identity does not correspond to that transmitted by the mobile station, and if yes, at least a signal is produced, indicating that the mobile equipment identity is possibly a copied one.

  • Patent number: 6324399
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of controlling subscriber registrations in a mobile communication system where subscriber data concerning visiting subscribers is temporarily stored in a visitor location register. The mobile subscribers are divided into subscriber groups, and subscriber registration quotas, i.e. a limited percentage of the total registration capacity is allocated to each of the subscriber groups by the operator. The visitor location register is arranged to count the number of registered subscribers in each group, and to reject further registrations in the subscriber group if the subscriber registration quota allocated to the respective subscriber group is occupied.
