Abstract: According to a first aspect of the present invention there is provided a method of operating an Application Server (AS) that implements an IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) supplementary service for a user. The method includes configuring a rule for the user, the rule having an action specifying whether or not an announcement is to be provided and, if an announcement is to be provided, defining media to be used for the announcement. The method further includes determining if a condition of the rule is met by a Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) message relating to the user and, if so, implementing an announcement in accordance with the action.

Abstract: According to a first aspect of the present invention there is provided a method of operating an Application Server (AS) that implements an IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) supplementary service for a user. The method comprises configuring a rule for the user, the rule having a condition that defines a Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) header field and defines a value of the SIP header field that must be matched by a SIP message in order to meet the condition. The method further comprises determining if the condition is met by a SIP message relating to the user and thereby determining if an action associated with the rule should be performed in relation to the SIP message.

Abstract: A method is provided for establishing a new communication leg of a communication session in an IP Multimedia Subsystem, IMS, network architecture that includes CAMEL services. The method enables IMS network nodes to selectively invoke or suppress invocation of CAMEL services based on signaling received in SIP requests.

Abstract: A user terminal may include an IP Multimedia Subsystem, IMS, client to enable the terminal to communicate with an IMS network. The IMS client may include a conference creation and control unit configured to create and control an IMS conference involving one or more participants, participants being identified within a conference INVITE or REFER message by respective Uniform Resource Identifiers, URIs, within a URI list. The conference creation and control unit may include a response handling unit configured to receive from the IMS network, in response to the sending of an INVITE or REFER, a SIP response message including an XML body specifying an Outgoing Communication Barring, OCB, service invocation result and configured to present the specified result to a terminal user. Related methods and application servers are also discussed.

Abstract: In one aspect, a user terminal is configured to access an IMS network, and to obtain from the network an indication of a current dial-tone condition of the terminal. The terminal displays a graphical user-interface, GUI, that includes a visual indication of the current dial-tone condition of the terminal. In another aspect Application Server function in an IMS network is configured to provide information to a user terminal regarding a current dial-tone condition such that the user terminal is able to display an indication of the current dial-tone also known as call progress tone. Examples given in the application are dial-tone aka ring-back tone, message waiting tone and tones indicating that the user has activated call forwarding unconditional or call diversion.

Abstract: In a method of correlating information relating to message in a SIP session, a first SIP message that includes a first IMS Charging Identifier, ICID, is received. The first SIP message is retargeted by generating a second SIP message that includes a second ICID. A reference to the first ICID is inserted into the second SIP message. Information relating to the first SIP message is correlated with information relating to the second SIP message based on the first ICID and the reference to the first ICID in the second SIP message.

Abstract: According to a first aspect of the present invention there is provided a method of operating an XML Document Management Server in an IP Multimedia Subsystem. The method comprises receiving a message from a user terminal requesting an XML document, the XML document conforming to a given structure and containing one or more service rules relating to a service, retrieving an XML document containing said service rules from a data storage entity. If the structure of the retrieved XML document differs from said given structure, adapting a rule or rules of the retrieved XML document such that the XML document conforms to said given structure, and sending the adapted XML document to the user terminal.

Abstract: A method and an arrangement for enabling an application server invocated terminating service in an IMS based communication network. A request-to-establish message is received (200) by an application server in a terminating part of the communications network, initiated by a calling party associated to an originating part of the communications network. The request-to-establish message is supplemented (202) with information that the terminating service is desired to a called party associated to the terminating part, before being transmitted (204) to an access node to which the called party is associated. A called terminal used by the called party is then notified (206) that the terminating service is applicable by the access node, before the application server is confirmed (208) that the called communication terminal has been notified.

Abstract: A method of controlling the presentation of user changeable IP Multimedia Subsystem service conditions at a user terminal, where service conditions are defined within an XML document maintained within the IP Multimedia Subsystem network. The method comprises including within the XML document one or more informational elements identifying those conditions that the user can change and, upon receipt of the XML document or a fragment thereof at the user terminal, interpreting said informational element(s) and presenting to the subscriber only those conditions that can be changed.
