  • Patent number: 10466225
Abstract: A method and a system for detecting a fuel quality in a vehicle including a first determination unit to determine a correction factor kkW for fuel as a quotient between an output fokW required to propel a vehicle and a reference output engkW which an engine in the vehicle is estimated to yield; k k ? ? W = fo k ? ? W eng k ? ? W ; a second determination unit to determine a correction factor kNOx for exhaust gas emissions as a quotient between a value measured in the vehicle for nitrogen oxides engNOx and a reference value for nitrogen oxides ECUNOx; k NOx = eng NOx ECU NOx ; and a detection unit to detect the fuel quality based on a relation between the correction factor kkW for fuel and the correction factor kNOx for exhaust gas emissions.

  • Patent number: 9784159
Abstract: A method to reduce during the start of an engine undesired emissions from the engine, where an SCR catalytic converter for the cleaning of exhaust gases is arranged in an exhaust passage at the engine. The method includes controlling the dosage of fuel to the engine with a certain delay relative to what is the case during essentially optimal combustion in order to reduce the development of heat that results from the combustion of fuel through non-optimal combustion. Also a computer program product comprising program code to implement a method of reducing emissions. Also an arrangement to reduce during the start of an engine undesired emissions from the engine and a motor vehicle that is equipped with the arrangement.

  • Publication number: 20170082516
Abstract: A combustion engine with a device adapted to detect operating conditions in the engine, and which device has a device with at least one sensor element, arranged separately from a cylinder chamber on a cylinder head of a cylinder in the engine. The sensor element is adapted to detect propagated movements in the cylinder head or in parts adjacent thereto, generated by pressure changes in said cylinder chamber.

  • Publication number: 20170082054
Abstract: A method and a device for diagnosis of performance during a combustion process in a combustion chamber in at least one cylinder in a combustion engine. The method comprises the steps: during a working cycle with combustion, detecting movements in a cylinder head belonging to said cylinder or in parts adjacent thereto in the engine, generated at pressure changes arising at the combustion in the combustion chamber, based upon the detected movements, calculating said pressure changes in the combustion chamber, and based upon the calculated pressure changes, determining whether the actual performance differs from the expected performance.

  • Publication number: 20170081992
Abstract: A method for diagnosis of at least one valve in at least one cylinder in a combustion engine comprising the steps, at a movement of a piston in said cylinder, of detecting movements propagating in a cylinder head of the cylinder or of parts adjacent thereto in the engine, comparing values resulting from the detection step with at least one stored setpoint value, and determining the state of said at least one valve, based on the result of said comparison.

  • Patent number: 6330877
Abstract: An arrangement and a method for calibration or monitoring a combustion process in a combustion engine, wherein an injection device injects fuel into a combustion chamber of the combustion engine. A noise-detecting sensor at the engine detects a parameter which derives from the noise generated during the combustion process. A control unit receives signal values representing the parameter from the sensors and receives information on the rotation position of a crankshaft in the combustion engine. The control unit determines the crankshaft position when the fuel is injected into the combustion chamber. Thereafter the injection device can be calibrated. Detecting the noise from combustion also makes it possible to assess whether combustion takes place at the intended time.
