  • Publication number: 20150124728
Abstract: A UE (30) configured in multi-carrier with at least one secondary cell (SCell) may send feedback signaling to the network when measurement gaps are active, which prevent the UE (30) from communicating on the primary cell (PCell). Criteria, signaling means, and pre-defined rules are described for selecting feedback signaling and for selecting the alternative cell (e.g., suitable SCell) for transmitting the selected feedback signaling to the network node during the measurement gaps. Similarly, a SCell may be used to receive scheduling information during measurement gaps.

  • Publication number: 20150117284
Abstract: Techniques for avoiding or reducing unnecessary CSI and/or SRS transmissions in a wireless communications system. In an example method, a user terminal periodically transmits (620) CSI and/or SRS according to corresponding periodic CSI transmission opportunities or periodic SRS transmission opportunities, or both, during a first period in which the UE is operating according to a short DRX cycle. In a second period immediately following the first period and during which the user terminal is operating according to a long DRX cycle, the user terminal reduces or suppresses (630) periodic transmissions of CSI and/or SRS. This may be done, for example, by suppressing periodic transmission of CSI and/or SRS, after a first delay time or first delay times or by reducing the rate of transmission of CSI and/or SRS, after a second delay time or second delay times. A combination of these and other disclosed approaches may be used.

  • Patent number: 9019882
Abstract: Methods and systems present solutions to, for example, the problem of unnecessary preparedness for suspended retransmissions in the user equipment (UE) which contributes to power drain in the device battery. One method for monitoring a Physical Downlink Control Channel (PDCCH) for adaptive retransmission grants in a radio communication system includes: monitoring, by a user equipment (UE), the PDCCH for adaptive retransmission grants; receiving, by the UE, a hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) acknowledge (ACK) message, and ceasing, by the UE, to monitor the PDCCH for adaptive retransmission grants after receipt of the HARQ ACK message.

  • Publication number: 20140369325
Abstract: According to a first aspect of embodiments herein, the object is achieved by a method in a terminal for handling a timing reference. The terminal is served by multiple serving cells of a wireless network, and is configured with a first Timing Advance, TA, group comprising the multiple serving cells, one of which, a current TR cell, acts as the timing reference for the multiple serving cells. When the current TR cell becomes unavailable for the terminal, the terminal autonomously selects a new TR cell to act as the timing reference for the multiple serving cells in the TA group.

  • Publication number: 20140233542
Abstract: Method and mobile node in a wireless communication network for determining when to transmit a signal. The mobile node operates in a wireless communication network comprising a first cell and a second cell where the mobile node is synchronized to the first cell. The method comprises determining a timing reference based on a reception of a downlink transmission in the first cell and transmitting the signal, to be received in the second cell, at a point in time based on the timing reference and a timing advance value of the first cell.

  • Publication number: 20140204843
Abstract: In an LTE network (10) employing carrier aggregation, a cross-scheduled UE (16) may initiate a random access procedure on a secondary component carrier (SCC) by transmitting a random preamble on the UL SCC PRACH. Contrary to normal cross-scheduling procedure—in which the UE (16) reads PDCCH on PCC and PDSCH on SCC using a provisioned pdsch-Start parameter—the UE (16) reads PCFICH directly on the DL SCC to obtain the CFI. The UE (16) uses the DL SCC CFI to access the PDSCH to read a message from the network (10) specifying a timing advance value for the UE (16) to use on UL SCC. For other DL SCC traffic, the UE (16) reads the DL PCC PDCCH and uses the pdsch-Start parameter to locate PDSCH on SCC.

  • Publication number: 20140204820
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a method in a network node for controlling DRX to be applied by a user equipment, UE, connected to said network node. Said network node can order the UE to enter a first DRX cycle by means of a specific control element. The method comprises the step of ordering the user equipment to enter a second DRX cycle by means of a modified usage of said specific control element. The disclosure furthermore relates to a network node, a method in a user equipment and a user equipment.

  • Publication number: 20140198701
Abstract: A method in a user equipment for deciding whether or not to send an uplink transmission (ie. Channel State Information, CSI, and/or Sounding Reference Signal, SRS) to a radio access network node (Node B) is provided. The user equipment and radio access network node (Node B) are comprised in a communications network. The user equipment is configured with Discontinuous Reception, DRX, to be in active time or not be in active time. The user equipment decides (201) whether or not to send the uplink transmission at a transmission time t, based on whether the user equipment was in active time or not at a predefined earlier time instance relative to the transmission time t.

  • Publication number: 20140080490
Abstract: Embodiments herein relate to a method performed by a user equipment (10) for controlling a time alignment timer associated with at least one secondary cell, SCell, wherein the user equipment (10) being configured with a primary cell, PCell, and the at least one SCell. The user equipment (10) prevents a TA timer associated with the at least one SCell from starting if a TA timer associated with the PCell is not running.

  • Publication number: 20140071860
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of a user equipment (UE) using discontinuous reception (DRX) and time division duplex (TDD) carrier aggregation of at least a first and a second cell, the first cell 501 having an UL-DL configuration of uplink (UL) and downlink (DL) subframes 503 which is different from such an UL-DL configuration of the second cell 502. The method comprises setting a first DRX timer 505, the duration of which is dependent on UL-DL configurations of a plurality of aggregated cells, including the first and second cells, such that the duration of the first timer corresponds to a first number of subframes where at least one of the plurality of aggregated cells has a DL subframe. The method also comprises setting a second DRX timer 506, the duration of which is dependent on the UL-DL configuration of a single one of the aggregated cells, such that the duration of the second timer corresponds to a second number of subframes where said single one of the cells has a DL subframe.

  • Publication number: 20130201910
Abstract: Some of the example embodiments presented herein are directed towards a user equipment (501), and corresponding method therein, for uplink timing alignment. The user equipment (501) may initiate a timing advance value to zero during a creation of a timing advance group, a modification of a timing advance group, or if a TAC MAC CE command has not been performed. The user equipment (501) may further update the timing advance value based on a received TAC MAC CE command. Some of the example embodiments presented herein are directed towards a base station, and corresponding method therein, for uplink timing alignment. The base station (401) may be configured to estimate a proximity of the user equipment (501) to an uplink receive or an uplink cell size of the user equipment. The base station may determine a TAC MAC CE based on the estimation and send the TAC MAC CE to the user equipment (501) for uplink timing alignment.
