Publication number: 20230407725Abstract: A multistage cementing assembly is used for cementing casing in a borehole. A subsurface tool on the casing holds a subsurface plug therein using a temporary retainer. The subsurface plug is located in a subsurface location below one or more stage tools or cementing collars on the casing. First stage cement passing down the casing can pass through a passage of the subsurface plug to flow out of a float valve. A wiper plug passed through the casing behind the cement is then engaged with the subsurface plug. Pressure buildup can release the two plugs as a unit from the temporary retainer. Before reaching the float valve, a deformable ring on the subsurface plug can engage in a locator ring on the casing to indicate the plug unit's location during operations. Eventually, additional stages can be cemented using the one or more stage tools uphole on the casing.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 20, 2022Publication date: December 21, 2023Inventors: Travis Massey, Joshua V. Symms, Mike Bock

Patent number: 11014333Abstract: A method for assembling a reinforced non-compressible pipe support by inserting a plurality of generally cylindrical holes in a first sheet of insulation in a pre-determined pattern, inserting a similar group of holes in at least a second sheet of insulation so that the holes of both sheets line up when the first sheet is placed against a pre-determined cylindrical or flat form and the second sheet is placed on top of the first sheet thereby forming contiguous voids where mating holes are positioned adjacent each other, applying a pressurized flowable material to fill each void along its longitudinal axis, and curing the material until it forms a hardened material thereby forming the plurality of sheets into a non-compressible arcuate body having an inner radius of curvature that fits against a pipe or into a rectilinear block. Multiples sheets may be adhered and thermoplastic or resin used to fuse them together.Type: GrantFiled: February 27, 2019Date of Patent: May 25, 2021Assignee: Rilco Manufacturing Company, Inc.Inventors: Kenneth L. Zagorski, Joseph A. Donoghue, Mike Bock

Patent number: 10252490Abstract: A reinforced insulation material having one or more sheets of insulation material having a plurality of voids in each sheet, wherein the sheets are operably connected to each other in a layered configuration, the voids mate to each other to create cylindrical or rectilinear pathways for insertion of adhesive or synthetic material to adhere the sheets into a layered or sandwiched configuration. The voids may be a variety of shapes including circles, squares, rectangles or other suitable shapes that upon formation of the layered sheets line up to permit insertion of material or dowels to create a reinforced assembly. The layers may be formed into a variety of shapes including a semicircular shape to go around a pipe, or a block of material. The finished assembly withstands compressive forces and provides insulation when in place around pipes or under tanks.Type: GrantFiled: February 28, 2012Date of Patent: April 9, 2019Assignee: Rilco Manufacturing Company, Inc.Inventors: Kenneth L. Patent number: 9518452Abstract: A setting tool for hanging a tubular string includes: a tubular mandrel having an actuation port formed through a wall thereof; a debris barrier for engaging an upper end of the tubular string; and a piston having an upper face in fluid communication with the actuation port. The setting tool further includes: an actuator sleeve extending along the mandrel and connected to the piston; a latch releasably connecting the debris barrier to the actuator sleeve and for releasably connecting the debris barrier to the tubular string; a packoff connected to the mandrel below the piston and operable to seal against an inner surface of the tubular string, thereby forming a buffer chamber between the debris barrier and the packoff; and a passage. The passage: is in fluid communication with a lower face of the piston, is formed in a wall of and along the mandrel, and bypasses the packoff.Type: GrantFiled: January 14, 2014Date of Patent: December 13, 2016Assignee: Weatherford Technology Holdings, LLCInventors: Rocky A. Turley, Mike Bock, George Givens, Kathleen Cassard, Paul A. Reinhardt
