  • Patent number: 8390663
Abstract: A method including creating a local view for a local endpoint, where the local view is created from a local topology for the local endpoint, where the local topology is created from a central topology, scanning for a request to change the local view for the local endpoint, and updating the local view for the local endpoint when the request to change the local view will not violate the local topology for the local endpoint and will not violate the central topology.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 29, 2009
Date of Patent: March 5, 2013
    Assignee: Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.
Inventors: Mike Derocher, Mark E Gorzynski
  • Patent number: 8363088
Abstract: Telepresence display configuration useful for video conferencing. The telepresence display configurations include a video display and a mat. The mat is spaced apart from the video display and has an opening having an inner perimeter configured to frame a viewing surface of a video display.

  • Patent number: 8272335
Abstract: A cable manager for a tabletop includes raceway and a holder. The tabletop includes a support surface and an edge surface. The raceway is for a cable having an end with a plug. The raceway is configured to be positioned lengthwise along at least a portion of a length of the edge surface. The raceway provides a slot along and through which the cable can, with respect to the support surface, be moved laterally and extended and retracted. The holder is configured to be positioned on the support surface and to retain the plug in a stationary position at a first location adjacent to the support surface. The plug is removable from the holder to be repositioned to a desired one of a plurality of second locations adjacent to the support surface.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 23, 2008
Date of Patent: September 25, 2012
    Assignee: Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.
Inventors: Mike Derocher, Stephen DeSaulles, Amos Marchant, Paul Harris
  • Patent number: 8223186
Abstract: A method is described for initiating and controlling a video conference between multiple video conference studios. A virtual meeting space is defined within a user interface comprising icons representing selected remote studios in geometric positions that mimic the locations of separate live video images coming from the selected remote studios, enabling participants in the local studio to naturally associate the live video images with the icons representing the remote studios.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 30, 2007
Date of Patent: July 17, 2012
    Assignee: Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.
Inventors: Mike Derocher, Ted Beers, Thomas Kleist, Thomas Moltoni
  • Patent number: 7990889
Abstract: Systems and methods for managing virtual collaboration systems are disclosed herein. A virtual collaboration system includes a distributor communicatively coupled to a first network and a second network having different network characteristics from the first network, the distributor configured to receive first media streams from at least one first network node, and to transmit the first media streams to at least one second network node; and a management subsystem adapted to dynamically configure a topology of a virtual collaborative event, wherein configuration of the topology includes a determination of media stream connections among the distributor and the at least one first network node based, at least in part, on at least one policy, and wherein the media stream connections establish and maintain virtual relationships among the at least one first network node and the at least one second network node.
