  • Patent number: 8841988
Abstract: A garage door opener (GDO) system and method include a remote keyless entry (RKE) receiver and a GDO system interconnected by a vehicle bus. Upon receiving a RKE GDO request signal from a key fob, the RKE receiver forwards a command signal over the vehicle bus to the GDO transmitter. Upon receiving the command signal from the RKE receiver, the GDO transmitter transmits a garage door signal to a GDO receiver of a garage to control a garage door.

  • Patent number: 8437916
Abstract: A control module may be configured to support wireless transmission and/or receipt of signals used to direct universal garage door openers and other appliance control systems. The control module may be operable to prevent certain garage door opener and/or application control requests in the event certain security measures are not met. The control module may be integrated into a smart junction box, body control module, and/or other module in the event the control module is adapted for use within a vehicle.

  • Publication number: 20090315672
Abstract: A wireless remote control system includes a wireless receiver having a normal operating mode in which the wireless receiver may be actuated by a wireless transmitter programmed to the wireless receiver and a programming mode in which the receiver is placed to learn a new wireless transmitter and programming information for the new transmitter is sent to the wireless receiver. Programming a wireless transmitter to the wireless receiver includes actuating the receiver with an existing transmitter already programmed to the receiver, and repeating the actuation of the receiver in a predetermined sequence. In response to the receiver receiving the predetermined sequence of actuations, the receiver enters the programming mode. Programming information for the new transmitter is sent to the receiver, and the receiver programs the new transmitter to the receiver.

  • Patent number: 7277007
Abstract: An automotive keyless smart-start assembly 10 for use in an automobile 22 is provided including an automotive engine 18 having an operating condition and a stopped condition. An ignition controller 16, having a locked state and an unlocked state, is in communication with the automotive engine 18. A receptacle bin 20 is mounted to the automobile 22 and is in communication with the ignition controller 16. The receptacle bin 20 is movable between a closed position 34 and an open position 32. A portable electronic transmitter element 12, including a security code 14, communicates the security code 14 to the ignition controller 16 upon being positioned within the receptacle bin 20. The ignition controller 16 verifies the security code 14 and moves to the unlocked state upon verification. The receptacle bin 20 moves to the closed position 34 upon verification.
