Abstract: An apparatus for carbon monoxide detection and automatic shutoff of a heating system is provided which includes a single housing containing a thermostat, a carbon monoxide detector, and a control circuit serially connected to the heating system via the existing thermostat wiring connections. The control circuit includes a relay with a plurality of contacts which are opened and closed to automatically control the operation of the furnace based on the operation of the carbon monoxide detector. In another embodiment, an existing thermostat is retrofitted by mounting the existing thermostat on an adapter plate containing an integrated carbon monoxide detector and control circuit. Another embodiment of the invention includes a carbon monoxide detector, a transmitter serially connected to the carbon monoxide detector for transmitting a predetermined radio frequency, and a receiver serially connected to the existing combustion-type furnace system for receiving the predetermined radio frequency from the transmitter.

Abstract: Flame detecting apparatus is disclosed for detecting the presence of ultraviolet radiation indicating the presence of a fire. The apparatus itself includes a housing with at least one aperture, an alarm and a UV detector extending through the aperture for triggering the alarm, and protective wings disposed about the aperture to protect the UV detector without blocking same from the ultraviolet radiation.

Abstract: A shelf system removably and replaceably mountable on two nails or other support member extending from a wall or other vertical surface at a predetermined oblique angle, allowing for flush engagement between the shelf system and the wall or other vertical surface, and including a pair brackets removably and replaceably mountable on the nails or other support member, disposed for flush engagement with the wall or other vertical surface, and at least one shelf removably and replaceably mountable directly on the brackets.

Abstract: A combined light and fire detector fixture mountable on a recessed electrical box having a housing, mounting means to mount the housing to the electrical box, a light fixture having lamp holding means, mounting means for mounting the light fixture to the housing and electrical conducting means for coupling the lamp holding means to a switch and an alternating current power source, and fire detecting means including smoke or heat sensing elements and being mounted to the outside of the housing to provide easy access thereto and to decrease the heat generated within the housing and electrical box.
