  • Patent number: 11209216
Abstract: A heat exchanger for cooling a heat-generating component includes first and second plates, each having a core layer of a first metal and an inner clad layer of a lower melting second metal, which is inert to the working fluid contained in a fluid chamber of the heat exchanger. The outer peripheral sealing surfaces of the first and second plates are joined by welding, wherein the weld joint is fluidly isolated from the fluid chamber by a layer of the second metal in an area adjacent to the weld joint. In some embodiments, the heat exchanger includes liquid flow passages and primary and secondary gas flow passages, each secondary passage providing communication between primary gas flow passages. The gas and liquid flow passages may be defined by a wick material having hydrophilic areas and non-wicking areas of reduced thickness. A method of manufacturing is also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20210180883
Abstract: A heat exchanger has a fluid flow passage defined between first and second plates, and at least one through fitting having a one-piece construction. The through fitting has a first portion extending through a first hole of the first plate, a second portion extending a second hole of the second plate, and a radially outwardly extending third portion located between the first and second plates. The third portion of the through fitting has a first radially-extending surface in contact with the inner surface of the first plate and a second radially-extending surface in contact with the inner surface of the second plate. At least one communication passage is provided through the third portion of the through fitting between the fluid flow passage and the hollow interior of the through fitting. A plurality of the heat exchangers may be fluidly connected in parallel flow arrangement.

  • Patent number: 10850348
Abstract: A device and method for alignment of parts for welding, having a bottom welding fixture and a top welding fixture. The bottom welding fixture has a plurality of fixed locating pins for positioning of parts to be welded and limiting movement of the parts in a first axis and a perpendicular second axis. At least pair of alignment block assemblies to actuate movement of the parts to be welded in the first and second axes. The alignment block assembly having an alignment block moveable from a first position to a second position for contacting and aligning the parts. An actuator coupled to the top welding or bottom welding fixture to actuate movement of the alignment block from the first position to the second position upon engagement of the top welding fixture to the bottom welding fixture.

  • Patent number: 6843311
Abstract: A stacked plate-type heat exchanger including a plurality of dish-shaped heat exchanger plates arranged one next to the other to form a nested heat exchanger plate stack. A plurality of first and second fluid flow channels are formed between the heat exchanger plates for first and second fluids respectively, and first fluid and second fluid chambers are formed in the stack in communication with the first and second fluid channels respectively. An end plate for the heat exchanger has an end plate central planar portion and a peripheral flange projecting from the end plate central planar portion, the peripheral flange of the end plate projecting in an opposite direction and sealably nested within the peripheral flange of a final heat exchanger plate in the plate stack.
