    Abstract: A gaming machine of the present invention comprises a processor for controlling game play in a basic mode and a bonus mode. The processor operating in the basic mode selects a base game outcome from among a plurality of possible base game outcomes, the possible base game outcomes including a start-bonus outcome the selection of which causes the processor to shift operation from the basic mode to the bonus mode. The processor operating in the bonus mode selects a bonus game from among a plurality of possible bonus games operable in the bonus mode and awards credits in the selected bonus game. The start-bonus outcome is a single event that may lead to the selection of any of the possible bonus games operable in the bonus mode.
