  • Patent number: 9778458
Abstract: The present application discloses methods and systems for calibrating a scanning system. In one embodiment, the calibration method determines a dark level of at least one pixel, determines a maximum white level for at least one pixel and adjusts the current of an illumination source based upon an output of an analog to digital converter. In another embodiment, the scanning system has a circuit for dynamically adjusting the output of an illumination source. The circuit has a pulse width modulated signal generator for generating a pulse width modulated signal and a driver for receiving the pulse width modulated signal and causing current to the illumination source to be modulated based on the pulse width modulated signal.

  • Patent number: 9143629
Abstract: A system and method are provided for streak detection in an image scanning system. The disclosed systems and methods may be particularly applicable to constant velocity transport (CVT) digital scanning systems by comparing multiple scans of a simply-produced test pattern passed over the sensor in multiple orientations. Image information from each pass of the test pattern through the image scanning system may be compared to image information from other passes in which the orientation of the test pattern is changes. The data may be normalized and compared to discern image quality defects introduced by the image scanning system including image defects presented in the form of streaks in an output image based on the scanned data. Cumulative data regarding detected image defects and defect correction measures applied in the image scanning system may be collected and stored for a user to access.

  • Publication number: 20070035762
Abstract: A system for effecting payment for a print job includes a mobile device interfacing contactlessly with a document machine having a print engine, and a processor in communication with the mobile device. The processor is configured to authorize a print job and effect payment for the print job. A method of effecting payment for a print job includes the step of interfacing contactlessly with a document machine via a mobile device. The method may include receiving a print job via the mobile device, verifying at least one of the identity of the user and the validity of a payment vehicle. If at least one of the identification is verified and the payment vehicle is validated, the method includes authorizing the print job, performing the print job, and deducting payment via a payment processor in accordance with at least one parameter of the print job.
