Abstract: A shed-forming device and a method for using it are provided for creating a shed of warp yarns in a weaving machine. The shed-forming device includes a plurality of yarn separating elements operably disposed to one another within the weaving machine. The yarn separating elements individually separate the warp yarns into operational zones between the yarn separating element. A fluid supply apparatus supplies fluid to the yarn separating elements in the shed-forming device. The yarn separating elements direct the fluid to contact the warp yarns, forcing the warp yarns to form changeable sheds to allow proper weaving.

Abstract: The method of inserting loops of continuous weft thread in a needle loom includes feeding the weft thread through a tubular inserter needle in a stream of air and inserting the weft thread into the shed in continuous loops by reciprocating the needle. The strokes of the needle and the feed the loop weft thread are matched so that the head portion of the loop formed by carrying the weft thread through the shed is positioned in front of the advancing tubular needle in the direction of its working stroke.

Abstract: The reed is intended for looms having a guiding channel for a weft thread inserter and includes a plurality of plates interconnected at their bottom parts and each having a recess. The recesses of the plates jointly define the open guiding channel for a moving weft inserter and for leading out the weft or filling thread. At their portions outside the shed the plates have projections or lugs extending toward the adjacent plates and spaced therefrom. This provides for keeping stable the dimensions of the guiding channel as the weft inserter moves therealong, and also facilitates threading of the warp through the reed.
