  • Patent number: 4492873
Abstract: An apparatus for electron beam irradiation of objects comprises an electron beam shaper 1 providing a ribbon-shaped beam 7 and a deflecting electromagnet 8 with a frame-type magnetic circuit 9 to direct the beam 7 onto an irradiated object 6 substantially at an angle of 90.degree.. The deflecting electromagnet 8 has two poles 10, 11 extending over the width of the irradiated object 6 and two windings 12, 13 embracing the poles 10, 11 and connected to a direct current source 14, the deflecting electromagnet 8 being arranged so that the trajectories of the electrons within the area from the shaper 1 to the deflecting electromagnet 8 are inclined to the frame of its magnetic circuit 9.

  • Patent number: 4441150
Abstract: A high voltage rectifier unit comprises a vessel filled with an electrically insulating fluid and accommodating a transformer having a sectionalized secondary winding, each section 7 of which is provided with a metallic shield and includes two coils 9, a high-voltage lead 27, rectifier devices 15 mounted on supporting insulators 25. Each section of the secondary winding of the transformer is connected with one of the rectifier devices 5 and forms a rectification stage. The metallic shields are made as open metallic rings 10 separated by insulating rings 18. On the outer surface of each of the metallic rings 10 are secured coils 9 of one of the sections 7 of the secondary winding, connected with the metallic ring 10 by inner leads 11 of each coil 9 of the section 7 of the secondary winding.

  • Patent number: 4286166
Abstract: A device for electron irradiation of rolled materials comprises an electron source arranged in a radiation protection chamber, and a drum for transportation of rolled material in a slotted irradiation zone, defined by the radiation protection chamber wall on one side and by a housing wall on the other side. The drum is made as a cylinder arranged on rims so that a part of said cylinder is located in the irradiation zone between the radiation protection chamber wall and the housing wall.
