Patent number: 8907758Abstract: A small reactor with high heat-release performance is provided. A reactor 1 includes an assembly (10) and a case (4), the assembly (10) having a coil (2) and a magnetic core (3) at which the coil (2) is arranged, the case (4) housing the assembly (10). The case (4) includes a bottom plate (40) that contacts a fixing object when the reactor (1) is installed on the fixing object, a side wall (41) that is mounted on the bottom plate (40) with an adhesive and surrounds the assembly (10), and a junction layer (42) that fixes the coil (2) to an inner surface of the bottom plate (40). The bottom plate (40) is formed of a material with higher thermal conductivity than that of the side wall (41). The reactor (1) easily transfers heat of the coil (2) to the bottom plate (40) and hence has high heat-release performance because the reactor (1) includes the bottom plate (40) with the high thermal conductivity and the coil (2) is joined to the bottom plate (40) through the junction layer (42).Type: GrantFiled: September 2, 2011Date of Patent: December 9, 2014Assignee: Sumitomo Electric Industries, Ltd.Inventors: Yasushi Nomura, Miki Kitajima, Kouhei Yoshikawa

Patent number: 8830022Abstract: Provided is a reactor including a core; and a case housing the coil and the core, the core including an inner core portion arranged inside the coil and an outer core portion partly or entirely covering the outside of the coil, the outer core portion being formed of a mixture of a magnetic material and a resin. The coil is arranged such that the axial direction of the coil is substantially parallel to a bottom surface of the case. The difference in concentration of the magnetic material in the outer core portion in the axial direction of the coil is smaller than the difference in concentration of the magnetic material in the outer core portion in a direction along a side wall of the case. With the reactor, even if the outer core portion covering the outside of the coil is formed of the mixture of the magnetic material and the resin, a desirable inductance value can be easily achieved and the reactor can have good heat radiation performance.Type: GrantFiled: December 8, 2010Date of Patent: September 9, 2014Assignee: Sumitomo Electric Industries, Ltd.Inventors: Kazuhiro Inaba, Miki Kitajima, Shinichiro Yamamoto, Hajime Kawaguchi

Patent number: 8525629Abstract: Provided is a reactor including a coil, and a core having an inner core portion arranged inside the coil and an outer core portion covering the outside of the coil. The inner core portion of the reactor has a higher saturation magnetic flux density than that of the outer core portion. The outer core portion has a lower permeability than that of the inner core portion, and is made of a mixture of a magnetic material and a resin. The case has a heat-transfer portion at an inner wall surface, as a heat-radiation structure for at least one of the coil and the inner core portion. With the reactor, even if the outside of the coil is covered with a core member, heat generated in the reactor can be effectively dissipated.Type: GrantFiled: January 8, 2011Date of Patent: September 3, 2013Assignee: Sumitomo Electric Industries, Ltd.Inventors: Kazuhiro Inaba, Yasushi Nomura, Shinichiro Yamamoto, Yukinori Yamada, Miki Kitajima, Kenji Kitajima
