Abstract: Disclosed is a content recording apparatus having recording devices A and B and first and second encrypting units that are provided for the respective recording devices. When receiving stream data representing content from an input unit, a rate changing unit operates so as to input streams of data in parallel to the respective encrypting units. The first encrypting unit encrypts the stream data with an encryption key generated from the IDs of the recording device A and of a recording medium a. The second encrypting unit encrypts the stream data with an encryption key generated from the IDs of the recording device B and of a recording medium b. Each of the recording devices A and B records the content encrypted by a corresponding one of the first and second encrypting units.

To display a video data of a broadcast program, the viewing terminal device issues a request to transmit a viewing statistical information and sends the transmission request to the server device, and receives and displays the viewing statistical information transmitted from the server device in response to the request to transmit the viewing statistical information.

A subtitle information extracting unit (104) separates the received transport stream into subtitle information and information other than the subtitle information. Next, a stream format converting unit (105) converts separated video/audio information contained in the transport stream into a program stream of video/audio. A subtitle format converting unit (107) converts the subtitle information separated by the subtitle information extracting unit (104) into a program stream of subtitle information. Thereafter, a subtitle information inserting unit (108) inserts the subtitle information converted by the subtitle format converting unit (107) into the program stream converted by the stream format converting unit (105), and outputs the resultant program stream.

Abstract: In a DVD+VR recording method, when a VCPS (Video Content Protection System) title (204) recorded under protection of its copyright is recorded in a VCPS-incapable apparatus, a dummy title (203) having a protection attribute is provided immediately before the VCPS title, and information about the dummy title is included in title management information for VCPS-incapable apparatuses and information about the VCPS title is not included in the title management information for VCPS-incapable apparatuses. As a result, even when a user tries to perform overwriting from a deleted title immediately before a VCPS title in a VCPS-incapable apparatus, the recording is stopped as the dummy title has the protection attribute, whereby the VCPS title is prevented from being deleted.
