  • Patent number: 4685694
Abstract: In a vehicle, such as a motor cycle, motor scooter, etc., including a driver seat located backward of a headpipe, a handle supporting portion is projected backward from the headpipe, a handle is pivotably mounted on a rear end portion of this handle supporting portion. And, this handle is connected to a steering stem penetrating the headpipe through an angle increasing mechanism. According to the present invention, since a comparatively large space formed between the headpipe and the driver seat is available, a driver can drive the vehicle in a comfortable sit-in style. A fairing member which fully covers the front portion of the vehicle from its front surface to its side surfaces can be mounted without interfering with the handle. Also, the fairing member can be arranged so as to be small in wind pressure resistance.

  • Patent number: 4671374
Abstract: A main stand device for a two-wheeled motorcycle having a body frame, which comprises a main stand pivotally secured to the body frame for rotation between a stored state and a standing state, an actuator operatively coupled with the main stand and operably provided on the body frame for manually rotating the main stand, the main stand being fixedly secured to a rotational shaft rotatably supported on the body frame, a drive source coupled to the rotational shaft so as only to transmit a drive force from the source to the shaft for rotatably driving the shaft, the drive source being constructed to start its operation for rotating the main stand in a direction toward its standing state in response to the operation of the actuator which is operated to rotate the main stand from the stored state to a position in contact with the ground or immediately before contact with the ground.

  • Patent number: 4280582
Abstract: A frame for a motorcycle is disclosed of the type including a main frame which extends rearwardly and downwardly from the journal for the steerable front wheel, and, which at its lower end is rigidly attached to a casing of the drive motor. In order to provide space for accommodating an air filter and ancilliary equipment, a pair of subsidiary tubes are rigidly attached to an upper portion of the main frame, the subsidiary tubes respectively diverging outwardly from the main frame and then extending rearwardly and downwardly to a rigid attachment with a transverse tubular member which is rigidly attached to a rear lower end of the main frame, the attachment of the subsidiary tubes to the tubular member being at positions spaced outwardly of the main frame.
