  • Patent number: 4093262
Abstract: A front fork for a two-wheeled vehicle such as, for example, a motor-cycle and so on, which is constructed with a pair of fork members, each comprising an upper and lower fork bodies which can relatively and mutually extend and retract by slide-movement, a spring member to serve as a buffer against external shock; a bridge member made of a hollow square cylindrical body, at the center part of which the bottom end of a steering stem is fixed, and at both end parts of the lower wall of which there are perforated openings for fitting thereinto each upper end part of the pair of fork members by welding the same to the upper and lower wall of the bridge member; an engagement piece to support the steering stem in a rotatable manner; and a handle stopper fixedly secured to the center part of the bridge member along with the lower end part of the steering stem to restrict the relative rotational range of a steering handle.

  • Patent number: 4067243
Abstract: An improved engine starting device for a motorcycle of the kick pedal type is provided which is easy to operate, does not require any large force of operation and is thus particularly suitable for an unskilled and powerless person such as a woman or girl to operate. To this end, the device includes a spiral spring which is operatively associated with an engine crankshaft and with a pedal arm so that it can rotate the crankshaft for engine cranking by releasing its spring force or energy previously accumulated by several repetitive swing motions of the pedal arm due to the rider's foot operation. The device also provides improved safety in engine starting operation by preventing the motorcycle from starting to run unintendedly even where the engine is started with the engine throttle valve being opened excessively.

  • Patent number: 4019594
Abstract: A motorized two-wheeled vehicle construction having a power unit swing system comprising a vehicle body frame connecting a front head pipe to the lower surface of a seat unit for a driver, the rear side of the frame being provided with a curved lower elbow portion to which a power unit is pivotably or swingably attached. The power unit comprises an internal combustion engine and an integral power transmission mechanism extending rearwardly from the engine to one side of the rear wheel to drive the same. The power unit is swingably attached at its front end to the curved lower portion, and a shock absorber connects the rear portion of the power unit and the lower surface of the seat unit.
