    Abstract: In an ECL circuit comprising current switch transistors and emitter follower transistor, the common emitter current gain of the current switch transistors and emitter follower transistor are set independently, and the common emitter current gain of the current switch transistors is selected so that the delay time is at its minimum. Further, the emitter areas of the current switch transistors and emitter follower transistor are set independently, and the emitter areas of the current switch transistors are set to be smaller than the emitter area of the emitter follower transistor.
