  • Patent number: 10358961
Abstract: An exhaust apparatus for a diesel engine rapidly burns an unburned deposit in an upstream exhaust catalyst with heat of a heater. The exhaust apparatus includes a downstream exhaust cleaner, an upstream exhaust catalyst provided in an exhaust passage, upstream of the downstream exhaust cleaner, a heater disposed at an exhaust inlet of the upstream exhaust catalyst, and an engine starter apparatus. A control unit controls the power supply to the heater and an engine start process is performed by the engine starter apparatus. A start command unit is connected to the control unit. When the engine has been stopped and then the start command unit gives the control unit a start command, the control unit powers the heater without performing an engine start process, thereby keeping the engine stopped for a predetermined period of time after the start command has been given, and subsequently performing the engine start process.

  • Patent number: 7252073
Abstract: Each of paired centrifugal weights are interlockingly connected to an advancing spring, which is interlockingly connected to a temperature-sensing operation device. When cold-starting the engine, the advancing spring is maintained extensible based on a state of the temperature-sensing operation in which the temperature-sensing operation device senses a temperature to operate. This advancing spring exerts a spring force, which pushes and widens the paired centrifugal weights to an advancing position. While the engine is warm, the advancing spring is held contracted based on another state of the temperature-sensing operation device, in which the temperature-sensing operation device senses a temperature to operate, so that the spring force of the advancing spring does not act on the paired centrifugal weights. A shape memory spring composed of a compression coil spring is used for the temperature-sensing operation device.

  • Patent number: 4696365
Abstract: A four wheel drive vehicle with dirigible front wheels, comprising a main propelling drive transmission, and a front wheel drive transmission connected to the main transmission. The front wheel drive transmission is switchable between a first four wheel drive mode in which the front wheels and the rear wheels are driven at a substantially equal peripheral speed and a second four wheel drive mode in which the front wheels are driven at a higher peripheral speed than the rear wheels. The front wheel drive transmission includes a piston operable by a hydraulic control system including a control valve mechanically interlocked to a steering section of the vehicle for switching the front wheel drive transmission from the first drive mode to the second drive mode. The piston, which normally is biased toward a position for the first drive mode, is movable against the biasing force to a position for the second drive mode when the front wheels are steered to an angle exceeding a predetermined angle.

  • Patent number: 4015228
Abstract: This invention provides a surge absorber for absorbing surges of electric current. The absorber has a metal oxide varistor hermetically sealed in a hollow insulator by a top and a lower electrical terminal and also has a conductive rod extending substantially downwardly and electrically connected to ground and to the lower electrical terminal by solder and also thermally connected to the metal oxide varistor whereby when the varistor is heated by a surge of an electric current therethrough to a temperature to heat the solder above the melting point of the solder, said conductive rod gets separated from the lower electrical terminal to fall downwardly, thereby stopping the electric current through the metal oxide varistor to ground.
