  • Patent number: 4597992
Abstract: The color and luster of a man conveyor handrail can be restored by mechanically grinding the surface of the handrail, degreasing the thus-ground surface of the handrail with a low-solubility solvent, and then coating a solution, which contains a room-temperature curable silicone resin containing methoxy groups and an organic solvent having a kauri-butanol value smaller than 100, onto the thus-degreased surface of the handrail. The process of this invention permits the operation of a man conveyor with handrails which always have a color and luster similar to fresh handrails without need for substantial increase to its running cost.
