Abstract: A magnetic head comprises a slider which holds recording/writing elements at its medium opposing surface constituting a lifting force generating part and the surface area of the medium opposing surface is at most 2 mm.sup.2.A magnetic recording and reproducing apparatus has such magnetic head which is disposed on a magnetic disk having a magnetic recording layer formed on a rigid substrate while the disk is rotated at a high speed so that magnetic recording and reproducing are conducted between the magnetic head and the magnetic disk, wherein the surface roughness R.sub.max of the magnetic disk is at most 100 .ANG..

Abstract: A flying magnetic head designed for use in a magnetic disk apparatus and equipped with a reading/writing element attached to an air discharge end of a slider having a flying plane on its one surface opposed to a magnetic recording medium. The slider is so formed as to have specified outer dimensions including a thickness of 0.65 mm or less from the flying plane to the opposite surface on the reverse side, a length of 1 to 3 mm in the direction of air discharge, and a width of 1 to 2.5 mm in the direction orthogonal to the air discharge. Accordingly, even with a small flying height under 0.1 .mu.m, high stability is attained in the flying characteristic with sufficient durability, and a compact structure is achievable at low production cost.

Abstract: A magnetic head comprises a slider having a flying plane on its one surface opposed to a magnetic recording medium, a reading/writing element attached to the end surface at the air discharge side of the slider and a protective layer formed on the end surface so as to cover the reading/writing element, wherein an edge of the protective layer is inside an edge of the end surface at at least the upper surface which is opposite the flying plane, so that there is formed a space between the edge of the end surface and the edge of the protective layer.

Abstract: A pad is engaged by a rotor by hydraulic pressure whereas another pad is engaged by the rotor on the other side thereof by a pair of pawls of the caliper under reaction. The reaction of the caliper is imparted to the other pad in a plane where a pair of the pawls of the caliper are opposed to the other pad and in a position at the marginal edges of the other pad, thereby minimizing squeal when the brake is applied.

Abstract: A mirror apparatus for automobile including an objective mirror region having an objective mirror and an ocular mirror region having a planar ocular mirror, wherein: the objective mirror is provided outside the automobile body to face an area of ground surface centering around the vicinity of the corner of the automobile body located opposite to the driver's seat, and the ocular mirror is disposed in a space within the ocular mirror region which has a first aperture for receiving therethrough an image reflected by the objective mirror and a second aperture for transmitting therethrough an image reflected by the ocular mirror to the driver's eyes. The first aperture has a limited size necessary for receiving the image on the objective mirror region reflected on the ocular mirror.

Abstract: An assembly is provided which includes a mirror body for holding a mirror and at least one container for holding an indicator. The container includes a window portion under an opening formed in the mirror body within which the mirror is disposed. The mirror body is mounted to a portion of an automobile within a visible region of a driver so that the driver can easily recognize the indication produced by the indicator.
