  • Patent number: 5974357
Abstract: A vehicle navigation system for indication of the current vehicle position provides improved guidance to the driver when he is exiting from a freeway onto a freeway connector road segment (a freeway bifurcation), with the destination being a street (non-freeway road segment) linked to the freeway connector. In this case there is a possibility that the displayed sign text data at the first decision point upon exiting from the freeway does not correspond closely enough to the actual freeway signs, which tend to emphasize the connecting freeways rather than the street. This would tend to confuse the driver. Therefore, before the vehicle passes through the first decision point upon exiting the freeway, the sign text data for the freeway connector segment of the segment prior to the last freeway connector segment connecting to the destination street is displayed at the first guidance point, and not just the destination street.

  • Patent number: 5915494
Abstract: A power train arrangement structure for a vehicle, in which an engine and a transaxle for transmitting the drive power outputted from the engine to the axles of front wheels are so arranged in an engine room at the front side of a vehicle body as to have their individual axes in the widthwise direction of the vehicle and in which lower arms for holding the front wheels are supported at two portions in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle. This arrangement structure is characterized in that the foremost end positions of the engine and the transaxle, as taken in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle, are generally aligned with the foremost end positions of the lower arms, as taken in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle, and in that the rearmost end positions of the rigid portions of the engine and the transaxle, as taken in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle, are generally aligned with the rearmost end positions of the lower arms, as taken in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 5848364
Abstract: A vehicle navigation system and guidance method for effectively guiding a driver through a traffic circle; the driver is given instructions to exit at the given turnoff, but if the driver misses the proper turnoff, the system does not indicate the situation as "off-route" but continues to direct the driver around the circle and then again provide the exit instruction as the proper turnoff is again approached.

  • Patent number: 4653802
Abstract: A vehicle roof and door connection having a panel member for covering a portion of the exterior of the vehicle. The panel member includes a roof portion and a side portion. The side portion contains an upper end connected to the roof portion and a lower end. The lower end is spaced from the upper end and includes an engagement member. The panel member also includes a channel recessed along the upper end. A support frame is connected to the panel member along the interior of the vehicle through an attachment member having an upper frame and a lower frame. The upper frame contains a first planar portion adjacent the support frame and the second planar portion adjacent the engagement member. The lower frame includes an inner extension and an outer extension. The inner extension is secured to the upper frame, while the outer extension extends along the exterior of the vehicle proximate the lower end to form a gap between the outer extension and the lower end, which is filled with a sealing resin.

  • Patent number: 4494337
Abstract: In construction of a door in a motor vehicle, in which a slide piece or pieces secured to end portion of a door glass are slidably coupled into a guide groove of a guide portion of a door frame to thereby guide the door glass in the vertical direction, the outer surface of the door glass and the outer surface of the door frame are substantially flush with each other, and the construction includes a door glass weather strip for sealing between the door glass and the door frame and a door weather strip for sealing between the door and the body when the door is closed, the door glass weather strip is provided closer to the compartment's side than said guide portion, the slide piece is secured to the forward end of a bracket projecting outwardly from an end edge of the door glass substantially in parallel to the glass surface, the guide portion is opened toward the end edge of the door glass to thereby form a guide groove for enclosing said slide piece, the outer wall surface of the guide portion is made substant
